Carbonate hardness is a measurement of amount of carbonates and bicarbonates in water . It relates to the ‘buffering’property of water, which is how it keeps a stable environment for aquatic life.

Aquavascular KH Boost keeps the acid-base balance  in check. Additionally , it avoids abrupt pHshifts and sustains dissolved CO29ppm) in relation to pH.

For a planted tank , maintaining the KH between 3-6 dKH is desirable.

Compatibility

Water type. Freshwater planted aquariums. Aquavascular’s whole range is freshwater plant nutrition, and their KH guidance is written for planted tanks.

What it contains. The label names the chemistry directly: carbonates and bicarbonates, CO₃ / HCO₃.

Why a planted tank needs it. This is the part worth reading if you inject CO₂. Aquavascular explain it themselves: injected CO₂ makes the water temporarily more acidic during the photoperiod, and when the gas goes off at night the pH swings back up. In a tank with low KH that swing is wide enough to stress the livestock. Carbonate is what absorbs it.

Target range. Aquavascular ask for KH between 3 and 6 dKH in a planted tank, and their water-parameter guide gives 3–8 dKH more broadly. They also say a KH below 4 dKH needs watching, and that KH should stay lower than GH.

Against GH products. KH Boost raises carbonate hardness only. It is not a general hardness product — if your water is soft in calcium and magnesium, that is a job for a GH product, and Aquavascular make CalMag and GH Recharge for it. Raising KH past GH is the wrong end of the problem.

Against pH products. KH Boost does not set a pH. It restores the buffer that stops the pH moving. Aquavascular describe it as keeping the acid-base balance in check and sustaining dissolved CO₂ in relation to pH.

Test kits. Dose this one against a KH reading. Aquavascular make a hardness combo kit and a GH kit for the purpose.

On dosing. Aquavascular do not publish a dosing rate for this product on their website, and the bottle photograph they publish shows only the front label. We would rather send you the figure off the bottle we are about to ship than print a number we cannot source, so message us before you order and we will read the label of a unit in stock.

This listing is the 250 ml bottle, which is the size we stock.

• Aquavascular publish no size options for KH Boost on their own store — unlike Macro, Micro and Ferropure, which they list in 250 ml and 500 ml, this product page carries no volume choice at all.
• So 250 ml appears to be the only size made, but we would not state that as a fact on Aquavascular’s behalf.

If you need a larger volume for a big system, ask and we will put the question to Aquavascular directly.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
