Easy Life Bio Exit Silicate neutralizes silicates in the aquarium, helping control the algae growth that elevated silicate levels can trigger.

Description

Description

Bio Exit Silicate from Easy Life neutralizes silicates in the aquarium. Silicates occur naturally in all water, they can also be released from the substrate. An increase in the silicate level in the aquarium can promote the growth of diatoms, which can form a brown coating on plants and soil. These diatoms are neither toxic nor harmful. The brown coating formed by the algae is usually not a pretty sight. Bio-Exit Silicate acts quickly and efficiently against silicates.

Features

  • Prevents unsightly brown deposits on gravel & plants.
  • Easy to apply.
  • Effect occurs within a short time.

Application

10 ml per 20 litres on day 1 and on day 3. No water changes within 7 days after the first dose.

Compatibility

Water type. Freshwater. Easy-Life list Bio-Exit Silicate in their freshwater algae range.

What it targets. Silicate, not algae directly. Silicates come in with tap water or leach out of the substrate, and they feed diatoms — the brown film that coats plants and gravel. Bio-Exit Silicate neutralises the silicate; the diatoms then run out of what they were living on.

Water changes. This is the constraint that catches people out. Easy-Life dose 10 ml per 20 litres on day 1 and again on day 3, and ask for no water change for seven days after the first dose. Plan the treatment around your maintenance week, not into the middle of it.

Where it sits in the range. Easy-Life sell three different products for three different problems, and they are not interchangeable. Bio-Exit Silicate is for brown diatom film driven by silicate. Bio-Exit Green (or AlgExit) is for beard, brush and filamentous algae. Blue Exit is for blue-green algae — cyanobacteria. Identify the growth before you buy the bottle.

Filtration. Keep the filter running. As with the rest of the Exit range, take activated carbon and other adsorbent media out while the treatment is in progress.
