ISTA Single Tap Connector 16 mm

Setup & Use

It goes in the hose run, between the filter and the tank. Cut the hose, push both cut ends onto the connector's barbs, and you now have a point where the line can be shut and split without draining anything. Fit one on the intake and one on the outlet and the filter can be lifted out entirely with the tank still full.

Shut the tap before you disconnect, every time. That is the whole purpose of the part — ISTA's own first feature is preventing water coming out while you maintain the filter. Disconnecting first and closing after is a wet cabinet and a half-drained tank.

Use it to throttle flow, gently. ISTA list flow and speed adjustment as a feature, and the rule is to throttle on the outlet side, never the intake. Restricting a canister filter's outlet is harmless; starving its intake makes the impeller cavitate.

Warm the hose before fitting. A minute in hot water and the hose slides on. Secure both sides with hose clips or cable ties — this is a joint that will sit under pressure, unattended, for years.

Exercise the tap occasionally. A valve left in one position for two years stiffens and can seize. Turning it through its travel when you service the filter keeps it moving, and it is a great deal easier to discover a stiff tap while the filter is already open.

What's in the Box

• One single tap connector for 16 mm hose

ISTA make this in two sizes: IF-775 for 12 mm hose and IF-776 for 16 mm. This is the 16 mm one. Hose, clips and cable ties are not included.

Material and construction: ISTA describe it as strong plastic, resistant to impact, acid and alkali. They publish no dimensions, no maximum working pressure and no bore diameter, and we would rather say so than guess.

Order a pair, not one. A single tap isolates one side of the loop; two let you lift the filter out with both hoses shut. ISTA also sell a quick-release double tap if you would rather have both in a single fitting.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
