The REEFER G2+ series of reef-ready aquarium systems comes in a huge variety of sizes, includes top-of-the-line infrastructure, filtration, water management and the ReefATO+ system. It is designed to allow hobbyists complete freedom of choice to use all their preferred or existing hardware in building the reef tank of their dreams.
G2+ Features
New to the G2+ — 3-in-1 ReefATO+
Every REEFER G2+ model includes a ReefATO+, an exceptionally reliable and smart auto top-off system. The ReefATO+ is more than just an ATO– it also includes an accurate temperature monitor and external leak detector, coupled with a smart controller that connects to the ReefBeat ecosystem.
Extra-fortified Glass and Marine-Spec Cabinets
The G2+ series of REEFER aquariums are rimless and constructed from ultra-clear, beveled-edge glass with an increased glass thickness of up to 19mm. These strong glass tanks sit atop newly fortified cabinet stands made of plywood and with Marine-Spec, water-resistant lamination. Each cabinet stand follows the contours of the aquarium glass, with the larger REEFER G2+ models featuring an additional “floating tank” aluminum support. Adjustable leveling feet & stainless steel hinges ensure a lasting and durable stand for your dream aquarium.
Improved Water Management & Plumbing
Up top, the G2+ REEFER systems employ a large overflow box with dual side-facing return pumps for optimal water circulation and increased surface skimming. The overflow box includes a lid which hides plumbing components, as well as easily-removable weir combs for quick cleaning and improved surface skimming. Water then exits from the overflow box and travels down an enlarged and rectangular inlet to the downflow pipe, allowing for reduced turbulence & quieter operation. All G2+ models also include a high precision valve on the downflow pipe, allowing for simple regulation to further tune your flow.
Reef-Ready Sump– Now ReefMat Compatible
As with the previous generation of REEFER, the G2+ sump includes a mechanical filtration compartment complete with micron filter sock(s) and filter cup(s) to keep large pieces of debris and detritus from clogging pumps and other pieces of equipment. This chamber can be alternatively used to house a ReefMat 500 or 1200– no modifications required! Water flows from the filtration chamber into the adjustable-height skimmer compartment, where the water will be kept at a steady level to aid in the best performance for your choice of skimmer, or any other filtration components that you choose to include. The water will then flow through the final bubble trap and into a chamber where the return pump (not included) can be placed to pump water back through the Reefer tank’s return plumbing.
Warranty registration
All REEFER aquariums include a standard 2-year warranty. Register your brand-new Red Sea system within 90 days of the original date of purchase and turn your standard 2-year warranty into 3 years at no extra cost. The 1–2 year extended protection plans Red Sea sell on that page are offered in a fixed list of countries that does not include India, so 3 years on registration is the longest cover available on a system bought here.
DELUXE Models – Now with ReefLED G2 Lighting
All Deluxe REEFER models now include ReefLED G2 60, 115, or 170 lights with mounting arms, delivering optimized reef-safe lighting for vibrant coral growth. The G2 series features an upgraded chipset with enhanced violet and UV wavelengths and a boosted 470nm blue channel for richer coral coloration.
With adjustable color temperature (10,000K – 23,000K) and a homogeneous light spread, the ReefLED G2 minimizes hotspots and spillage. An optional clip-on visor (sold separately) reduces glare for better viewing.
Easily control your lighting with the ReefBeat app, which offers pre-set modes, sunrise/sunset effects, lunar cycle moonlight, and a coral acclimation mode.
Each Deluxe REEFER model includes the appropriate ReefLED G2 lighting units with mounting arms that securely attach to the aquarium and rotate for easy maintenance.
Specifications
Red Sea list the main components of a REEFER G2+ system as:
This is a Deluxe system, so it also carries Red Sea ReefLED G2 fixture(s) and Red Sea’s ReefLED mounting arm(s). Red Sea do not publish a bill of materials for the Deluxe packages, so the count and model for this system are as stated in the description above rather than quoted from a Red Sea document — confirm with us before ordering if the lighting configuration is what decides the purchase.
What is not in the box, and catches people out:
Assembly is covered by the graphic manuals packed with the system, in the order they set out.
Before anything arrives, check the floor. Filled and running, this model weighs about 690 kg / 1,520 lb. The flooring directly under it must be rated for that. The glass aquarium alone is about 95 kg / 210 lb — work out how many people you need to lift it, and make sure everyone lifting is up to it.
Where it goes. The top of the cabinet sits about 86 cm / 34″ from the floor. Leave at least 10 cm / 4″ of clearance behind the system for cable access and air circulation, and about 60 cm / 24″ between one side and the nearest wall or furniture so you can get to the back. Keep the surrounding area waterproof and move anything that water or salt creep would ruin.
Room temperature. Red Sea recommend a stable 22 °C / 72 °F, in a well-ventilated room with moderate light. Not in front of an air-conditioner, not under a heating vent, not in direct sun.
Never move it with water in it. That is Red Sea’s own note and it is there because people try.
Assembly order. Build the cabinet complete with doors and put it in its final position first — the top board and, on some models, other cabinet parts are packed underneath the aquarium, so the tank has to come out of its packaging to get at them. Stand the glass on the Styrofoam from the packaging so the bulkheads on the tank bottom never touch the floor. On models with adjustable legs, level the tank with a spirit level on the glass top and make sure every leg is touching the floor. Align the cabinet doors before the glass sump goes in.
Plumbing. Hand-tighten the pipe joints. No tools.
Filling, in this order. Check every pipe is properly assembled and every flexible tube secured. Install anything that will displace water in the sump first. Open the main flow valve fully, anti-clockwise. Put about 15 cm / 6″ of water into the overflow box and check inside the cabinet for leaks before going further. Then fill the display, watching the sump level as it comes up. As soon as there is about 15 cm / 6″ in the main pump compartment, switch the pump on and stop adding water; switch on the skimmer and anything else that shifts the sump level, then top up to hold that 15 cm / 6″.
Leave the ReefATO+ Auto-Fill switched off until the system is filled to its normal operating level with saltwater.
Do a power-out test. Before you trust the system with livestock, cut the power and watch where the water goes — the sump has to hold the back-siphon without overflowing.
Flow valve. The fine-adjustment valve on the main downpipe sets the water level in the overflow box between the main and bypass pipe intakes. Set correctly it is silent; if you can hear water returning to the sump, the valve needs adjusting.
Filter bags. 225 micron. Keep at least three sets so a clean one always goes straight in.
Overflow box cover. It cuts the noise of the surface skimmer’s waterfall. If you want to mount lighting on the overflow box’s rear wall, break out the marked section of the cover and smooth the edge with a file or sandpaper.
Warranty scope, worth reading before you buy. Red Sea’s 36-month warranty on a REEFER G2+ covers the Aquarium System — aquarium, sump, pipework and cabinet. It explicitly does not cover the ReefATO+ or anything else bundled into a Deluxe or Max offering; those carry their own warranties. Red Sea’s optional two-year extension is available in a fixed list of countries that does not include India.
Red Sea cover a REEFER aquarium system for 2 years from the date of purchase as standard, and extend that to 3 years at no cost if you register the system with Red Sea within 90 days of the original purchase date. The cover is on the Aquarium System itself — aquarium, sump, pipework and cabinet. Equipment bundled into a Deluxe package carries its own separate manufacturer warranty rather than this one.
Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first — most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi or Pune warehouse, whichever one served your order, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.
If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
