18 litres of media is the point of this filter. Nothing else in the classic range is close, and on a large or heavily stocked tank that capacity is what keeps the filter stable between services.

What’s in the Box

Canister and pump head, hose, inlet pipe, spray bar, taps and the installation accessories. Filter media is not included with the 2260 — budget for it separately, and 18 litres is a substantial quantity.

Setup & Use

Plan the location before it arrives: full of water and media this is a heavy unit, 355 mm across and 570 mm tall, and it needs to sit below the tank with room to lift the head clear.

Load from the bottom up — coarse mechanical, then biological media, then a fine pad under the head. Fit inlet and spray bar at opposite ends of the tank, prime, and open the taps fully before switching on.

Service it in halves. With 18 litres of media, rinsing the lot in one go is the fastest way to lose a mature biological filter; alternate which baskets you clean, and rinse in tank water only.

Compatibility

Freshwater and marine aquariums from about 300 to 1500 litres. Takes 16/22 mm hose on the outlet and 25/34 mm on the inlet — both larger than the rest of the classic range, so plan the plumbing and buy the fittings for those sizes.

The canister takes loose media of any kind, which is what makes it worth running on a big system: you set the mechanical, biological and chemical balance yourself rather than accepting a cartridge.

Safety & Precautions

Leave a drip loop in the mains lead and use an earthed socket. Always unplug the filter before opening the canister.

Close both taps before disconnecting the head, or 23 litres of canister will siphon the tank onto the floor. The pump must not run dry; prime it before switching on. Two people are worth having for the first installation — a full 2260 is not a unit to move alone.

Warranty & Support

This product carries a 2-year manufacturer warranty from the date of purchase, covering material and manufacturing defects. EHEIM excludes wear parts — impeller, sealing rings, hoses and filter media — along with glass damage, units that have been opened, and any unit fitted with non-EHEIM parts.

Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first. Most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi or Pune warehouse, whichever one served your order, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
