What it is. The complete top assembly of the Fluval 106 canister filter: Fluval’s own parts diagram lists it as item 7, the Canister Cover (Motor Head), which houses the motor, the magnetic impeller and its ceramic shaft, the impeller cover, and the instant-prime handle assembly. It’s the part you’d order if the motor itself has failed, rather than a wearable seal or gasket alone.

Part number. Fluval’s own parts table lists this exact assembly as A-20181 for the 106 specifically. Unlike the basket-side accessories (media basket, intake strainer, rim connector), the motor head is not interchangeable between filter sizes: the 206 above it uses a different part, A-20186.

Setup & Use

Fitting it. The motor head lifts off the filter canister as a single unit: Fluval’s own instructions for replacing the internal primer, for example, start with “remove the motor head from the filter case,” the same access point used for a full motor head swap.

What wears, and what doesn’t. Fluval’s own maintenance notes flag two wear items inside this assembly specifically: the impeller, which wears over time from continuous running and should be replaced as a preventative step, and the motor head gasket (the O-ring), which should be replaced yearly to avoid leaks. Both are explicitly excluded from Fluval’s manufacturer warranty as wear-and-tear parts, along with the impeller cover, which is the practical reason a complete replacement motor head exists as its own part.

Warranty & Support

This product carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty from the date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship, which Fluval extends to 5 years free of charge if you register the product.

Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first. Most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi or Pune warehouse, whichever one served your order, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 48 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
