Specifications

What it is. A submersible/inline multi-purpose water pump. Seachem’s own positioning: quiet and energy-efficient, suited to aquarium circulation, protein skimmers, indoor fountains and water-cooling loops alike, not just fish tanks.

Where this sits in the Seachem range. The smallest of three Impulse models (400, 600 and 800) that share the same synchronous motor and adjustable flow but scale up in flow rate, head height and wattage. This is the 230V-50Hz (“EU”) version.

Seachem’s own spec for this model (230V-50Hz): 1,500 L/h (400 GPH); 23 W; 0.17 A; max head 1.8 m (6 ft); cord length 2.28 m (7.5 ft); hose connector 1/2″ GAS / 15-20 mm; stainless-steel impeller shaft, the one model in the range that isn’t ceramic-shafted.

The three models compared (Seachem’s own 230V-50Hz figures): 400: 1,500 L/h, 23 W, 1.8 m max head; 600: 2,200 L/h, 32 W, 2 m max head; 800: 3,000 L/h, 45 W, 3 m max head.

Setup & Use

Runs wet or dry: built for both fully submersible use and inline plumbing on the same motor.

Flow is adjustable, not fixed at the 1,500 L/h rated maximum. Dial it back for a gentle application such as an indoor fountain, or run it flat out for sump return duty.

Ships with hose adapters and a suction-cup mount, per Seachem’s standard kit, so it installs either plumbed inline or free-standing.

Stainless-steel shaft on this model only: the 600 and 800 below use a ceramic shaft instead. This is Seachem’s own spec, not a running-in difference between units.
