The EHEIM skim marine 300 may be small but it delivers the same results as a large protein skimmer. The skimmer is powered by a highly efficient needle wheel pump (impeller) and has an adjustable air intake which sucks in air independently and de-termines the skim rate. It is easy to attach the skimmer to the aquarium glass using the magnetic holder.

What EHEIM do not publish for this model: a power consumption figure, an air draw and a water throughput. They are simply not on EHEIM’s specification sheet for the 300 and we are not going to estimate them. If any of those decides your purchase, ask us and we will try to get them confirmed before you order.

Setup & Use

It hangs inside the tank on a magnet. There is no sump plumbing and no external chamber — the skimmer goes on the glass, held by the magnetic holder, which is what makes it usable on a nano or a soft-coral tank that has no sump at all.

Set the air intake, then leave it alone for a week. The air valve is the control that decides the skim rate: more air gives a wetter, faster skim and a quicker-filling cup, less air gives a drier and more concentrated one. A new skimmer on a new tank overflows for the first few days regardless of setting while the surface film settles down, so make one adjustment at a time and give it days rather than minutes to show you the result.

Empty the cup before it needs it. Skimmate that backs up into the neck goes straight back into the tank. On a 300-litre system with a decent bioload, expect to be emptying it more often than the manufacturer’s photographs suggest.

It comes apart completely for cleaning. EHEIM designed it that way, and it is worth using: the needle wheel and the air line are what fur up, and a skimmer that has stopped producing foam has almost always got a blocked air path rather than a failed pump. Rinse in fresh water, no detergents.

Marine only. Protein skimming depends on the surface chemistry of salt water. In fresh water this will make noise and no foam.

Warranty & Support

This product carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty from the date of purchase, covering material and manufacturing defects. EHEIM excludes wear parts — impeller, sealing rings, hoses and filter media — along with glass damage, units that have been opened, and any unit fitted with non-EHEIM parts.

Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first. Most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi or Pune warehouse, whichever one served your order, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
