The Aquavitro Division Skimmer combines a handled collection cup, height-based drain regulation, and an innovative silencer for efficient, quiet protein skimming.

Description

Aquavitro division skimmers are designed with the aquarist in mind and offer a host of unique features including a polycarbonate collection cup with built in handle, height based drain regulation, an innovative silencer, complete micro bubble removal, and air and water flow versatility. Its patent-pending base design and adjustable components make division skimmers the perfect solution to fit an assortment of sump configurations. They are easy to assemble right out of the box and start up in under a minute.

For Aquariums up to 250 US gallons/950 liters.

Reaction Column Volume 3.9 liters/1.03 US gallons
Collection Cup Volume 1.2 liters/0.32 US gallons
Height 53 cm/20.9"
Clearance Height 55.5 cm/21.9"
Footprint 25.3 x 14 cm/9.9" x 5.5"

The Aquavitro Division Skimmer 250 pulls dissolved organic waste out of the water before it breaks down into nitrates — see our guide to Protein Skimmers for how skimming fits into overall reef water quality.

Specifications

  • For aquariums up to 250 US gallons / 950 litres.
  • Reaction column volume: 3.9 litres / 1.03 US gallons.
  • Collection cup volume: 1.2 litres / 0.32 US gallons.
  • Height: 53 cm / 20.9 inches. Clearance height: 55.5 cm / 21.9 inches.
  • Footprint: 25.3 × 14 cm / 9.9 × 5.5 inches.
  • Pump: Sicce PSK 600. Consumption 14 to 22 watts.
  • Air flow, maximum: 500 litres / 150 US gallons per hour.
  • Water flow, maximum: 500 litres / 150 US gallons per hour.
  • Recommended water height in the sump: 16 to 25 cm / 6 to 10 inches.
  • Rated tank volume, single pump: 1000 litres / 250 US gallons at an average bioload, dropping to 350 litres / 120 US gallons at extremely high SPS density.
  • Rated tank volume with the optional Secondary Pump Kit (Sicce PSK 600 plus a Syncra 0.5, 14–22 W plus 6 W): 1500 litres / 375 US gallons average, 600 litres / 180 US gallons at extremely high SPS density, with water flow of 700 to 1000 litres / 175 to 250 US gallons per hour.
  • Warranty: three years, extendable to five on registration with Seachem; the pump impeller is a six-month wear part.

Read the two load figures together. The headline 250 US gallons is Seachem's average bioload rating. On a heavily stocked SPS tank the same skimmer is rated for a third of that. If your tank is coral-dense, size against the lower number.

One note on the units. Both columns above are quoted exactly as Seachem print them, and on this model their US-gallon column is rounded loosely against the litres in places — 350 litres is nearer 92 US gallons than 120. Where the two disagree, size against the litres.

What's in the Box

Seachem's parts checklist for the division skimmers runs to fourteen items. Check them all off before you start assembling — the skimmer goes together in about a minute once everything is laid out.

  • Support base.
  • Locking ring.
  • Reaction column.
  • Collection cup, with its moulded handle and its drain.
  • Drain tube, on the threaded rod that sets foam height.
  • Drain spillway.
  • Air silencer — the dual-chambered one that hangs anywhere along the spillway.
  • Pump, with its compression ring.
  • Pump O-ring.
  • Venturi injector.
  • Water control screw.
  • Filter sock.
  • Sponge.
  • Tubing.

Not in the box. The Secondary Pump Kit, which is sold separately and converts the skimmer to recirculating operation. Seachem's contents list for that kit is a venturi extension, an O-ring, a connecting hose, two venturi O-rings and two hose clips — the secondary pump itself is not included in the kit either.

Compatibility

  • Sump use. Put the skimmer in the sump where you can reach it for cleaning, and preferably near the point where water arrives from the display.
  • Rated for aquariums up to 250 US gallons / 950 litres.
  • Height 53 cm (20.9 inches), and Seachem give a clearance height of 55.5 cm (21.9 inches) — that is the space the skimmer needs above it in the cabinet. Lifting the collection cup off needs a minimum of about 1 inch (2.5 cm).
  • Recommended water height in the sump: 16 to 25 cm (6 to 10 inches). The skimmer's operation is independent of the sump level within that band, which is the point of the high drain design — but the pump must stay submerged.
  • Orientation is flexible. The collection cup, the drain tube and the drain spillway all rotate, so the spillway can face the front, back or side; the air silencer hangs in several positions along the spillway; and the spillway height itself adjusts in increments.
  • Marine and saltwater only. Seachem note that while most saltwater skims easily, a specific gravity of 1.026 or a salinity of 35 ppt gives the best results.
  • Pump fitted: Sicce PSK 600, drawing 14 to 22 watts. It is an external pump on a compression ring, so it comes off for cleaning without stripping the skimmer.
  • Optional Secondary Pump Kit, sold separately, converts the skimmer to recirculating operation: the main pump then recirculates water and air on itself instead of also having to load water, which Seachem put at up to 30% more skimming efficiency. On this model the pairing is the PSK 600 paired with a Syncra 0.5.
  • Consumables: the filter sock and the sponge. Rinse them gently every one to two weeks and expect to replace them every couple of months. The sock can be shortened or removed altogether by popping its plastic ring out, if you would rather not run it.
  • Indoor use only, at a maximum of 35 °C (95 °F).

Safety & Precautions

  • Check that the voltage and current on the pump's label match your mains supply before you plug it in, and check the cord and pump for damage first. Seachem specify a residual current device with a nominal tripping current of 30 mA or less.
  • Put a drip loop in the cord — the loop that hangs below the level of the socket, so water running down the cable drips off instead of reaching the outlet.
  • Never run the pump dry. The skimmer itself is unaffected by changes in sump level, but the pump must always stay submerged; do not let the water fall below the MIN mark moulded on the pump body. Running dry damages the motor.
  • Disconnect power before any maintenance, and disconnect every submerged electrical product in the sump before putting your hands in the water. If a plug or socket is damaged, switch off at the breaker before pulling the plug.
  • Never unplug by pulling on the cord.
  • The pump uses a type Z cable connection: the cord and plug cannot be substituted or repaired. If either is damaged the whole pump is replaced.
  • Indoor aquarium use only, and not in a bathroom or anywhere similar. Maximum liquid or ambient temperature is 35 °C (95 °F). Not for corrosive or abrasive liquids.
  • There are no user-serviceable parts inside the pump.
  • Not designed for use by children or by anyone who needs supervision; an adult responsible for safety should be present.
  • Do not over-close the air intake screw. Fine air adjustment is for later, once you know the skimmer — choking the air supply too far can damage the pump's needle impeller.
  • If the pump has been stored dry for a while the impeller can seize with salt. Clean it before putting it back into service rather than forcing it.
  • Clean salt and limescale off pump parts with water and vinegar, away from the sump, using a soft brush. Never use detergents or solvents — they damage the plastics and are harmful to livestock.

Warranty & Support

Seachem guarantee this product to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for three years from the date of purchase, extendable to five years if you register it with Seachem. The one exception is the pump's impeller, which is guaranteed for six months as a wear part. The warranty covers repair or replacement of the defective part at Seachem's option, and does not cover damage from accident, misuse or lack of reasonable care, modification or attempted repair by anyone other than Seachem, or running the unit on an electrical supply other than the one specified on the packaging.

Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first — most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi or Pune warehouse, whichever one served your order, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
