200 ml is a cat-sized dish, and that is deliberate. Catit’s stated reasoning is that most dishes are sized for the shelf rather than the animal. This one holds a feline-appropriate portion and is shallow enough not to press on whiskers while the cat eats.
Why steel rather than plastic. Catit’s own reason: stainless inhibits bacterial growth and can prevent feline chin acne in cats with sensitive skin. Rounded edges make it easy to clean properly.
Slightly raised, not a tall stand. At 9.9 cm overall the dish sits off the floor enough that the cat is not craning down at it; four paw feet on the holder stop it sliding and tipping.
Setup & Use
The steel dish lifts straight out. That is the whole cleaning routine: lift the dish out of the plastic holder when the cat has finished, wash it, drop it back in. Catit supply a second dish precisely so one can be in the dishwasher while the other is in use.
Top rack only. Catit specify top-rack dishwasher-safe for the steel dishes. The plastic holder is not listed as dishwasher-safe: wash it by hand.
It is built to match the PIXI fountains. If you already have one, the food and water station will read as a set.
