Catit Smart Pixi Fountain

The Catit PIXI Smart Drinking Fountain is strikingly cat-like in appearance, yet highly ergonomic and user-friendly. PIXI’s little paws make the fountain easy to pick up for refills, while the cute ears help prevent water spills and splashes. Even PIXI’s nose and whiskers are super convenient and serves as a backlit water level window.

Specifications

Catit’s published specification for the PIXI Smart Drinking Fountain (item #43751):

UV-C runs three times a day, for an hour each time. That is Catit’s own schedule for the built-in clarifier, and it is what separates this fountain from the standard PIXI: the filter pad handles odour, debris and hardness, and the UV-C lamp deals with the cloudiness that filtration alone does not.

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. Catit are explicit about this. If your router publishes a single merged network name across both bands, the fountain may refuse to join: you will need the 2.4 GHz band exposed separately during setup.

Three ways to drink from it, and Catit designed all three deliberately. With the spout accessory fitted you get an arching stream, which is what a cat is trying to reach when it tilts its head sideways under a tap. Without the spout, water bubbles up through the top and runs down into the front bowl. And because the bowl holds water, the cat can still drink from it with the fountain switched off. The spout pushes in and pulls out while the fountain is running.

The drinking surface is wide and shallow on purpose. Catit’s stated design goal is that the fixture does not brush a cat’s whiskers while it drinks. If your cat has been eating and drinking from deep bowls and leaving water it clearly wants, that is the problem this shape is meant to solve.

Compatibility

Filters and tops are shared across the PIXI fountain range. The Triple Action Filter is the same part in every PIXI fountain. The stainless steel top cover is not: Catit make two, #44845 for the standard PIXI Fountain and #44837 for the PIXI Smart Fountain, and they are different sizes.

The Smart fountain takes stainless steel top #44837, not the #44845 top that fits the standard PIXI: Catit publish them at 20 × 20 × 1.5 cm and 19.5 × 19.5 × 1.5 cm respectively. The filter pad is the same part in both.

Replacement filters are Catit #43721 (3-pack), #43722 (6-pack) and #43723 (12-pack). The pad measures 8.5 × 8.5 × 0.9 cm and fits every PIXI fountain, plain or stainless-steel-topped, standard or Smart. It is not the same filter as the Flower Fountain’s.

It is designed to sit next to the PIXI Elevated Feeding Dish. Catit built the two to match, so if you want the food and water station to look like one thing rather than two, that is the dish to pair with it.

It runs from USB. Catit specify a DC 5 V 1 A adapter, and the fountain itself draws under 1 W. Any decent 5 V phone charger of at least 1 A will run it, so there is no mains-voltage question to settle before it arrives and nothing to convert.

The PIXI app is free and controls every PIXI Smart device. Catit state there are no in-app purchases, and that the app can be shared, so a second person (family, a cat sitter) can run the fountain while you are away.

Setup & Use

The Triple Action Filter is a consumable, and Catit want it changed every 30 days. The pad is cotton mesh, active carbon and ion-exchange resin in three layers: the mesh catches hair and debris, the carbon takes out odours, and the resin softens the water by reducing calcium and magnesium. Catit’s stated reason for the softening layer is that those minerals, taken in quantity, can accumulate in a cat’s lower urinary tract. Running the fountain on a filter well past its month does not damage the pump; it just stops doing the job you bought it for.

Let the app do the reminding. Catit set it to notify you every 30 days to change the filter and every 60 days to clean the pump, and to alert you every four hours while the water is low or gone. Those three notifications are the whole maintenance schedule for this fountain.

Energy-saving mode is a duty cycle, not a dimmer. Catit’s ‘geyser’ mode runs the pump for 5 minutes and then pauses it for 15. The bowl holds water throughout, so the cat can still drink during the pause.

Slime inside the impeller housing is what makes a quiet fountain start to buzz. Rinse the impeller and its chamber under running water (no detergent inside the pump), and put it back wet.

The steel top is dishwasher-safe; the electronics are not. Take the top off and wash the rest by hand.

Safety & Precautions

Catit publish no safety panel for this product. Their product pages carry specifications and features and then point at a Help & Advice section; there is no warnings list for us to reproduce. What follows is our own guidance, and we are labelling it as ours rather than passing it off as the manufacturer’s.

Never let it run dry. A fountain pump is water-cooled and water-lubricated; running one in an empty reservoir is the single most common way these fail. Catit’s own protection against this is the auto-shutdown, which cuts the pump when the water is gone: treat it as a backstop, not a schedule.

Run a drip loop. Let the cable hang below the level of the socket before it rises to the plug, so water tracking down the lead drips off the bottom of the loop instead of running into the outlet. It costs nothing and it is the single most useful thing you can do with any powered appliance that sits next to water.

Unplug it before you take it apart. Every clean means lifting the top off and handling a wet pump. Pull the power first, every time, however quick the job looks.

Catit state the plastics are BPA-free. That is their claim about the material, not a licence to put it through a dishwasher: unless a part is specifically listed as dishwasher-safe below, wash it by hand in warm water and keep it away from the heated drying cycle, which is what warps this kind of moulding.

Keep the adapter off the floor. The fountain end is 5 V and harmless; the adapter is mains equipment. Put it somewhere a spilled refill or an enthusiastic cat cannot reach it.

The UV-C lamp is inside the unit and should stay there. Catit seal it into the fountain body; there is no user-serviceable lamp and no reason to open it. UV-C is harmful to eyes and skin at close range: if the housing is ever cracked or the lamp is visible, stop using the fountain.

Warranty & Support

This product is covered by warranty as per the manufacturer policy, against material and manufacturing defects from the date of purchase.

Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first. Most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi or Pune warehouse, whichever one served your order, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 48 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
