The Fluval Auto Surface Skimmer SK400 removes unwanted water surface film to help improve oxygenation and light penetration for a cleaner and healthier aquarium. Over time, surface films can develop from oils on your skin, household dust, cooking smoke, fat content within fish food and more. These films are not only visually unsightly, but also reduce dissolved oxygen (required by fish to breathe) and decrease light levels (needed by live plants to grow).

Compatibility

Rated by Fluval for aquariums up to 105 US gallons / 400 litres. Unlike the passive Fluval Surface Skimmer, this one is powered, so it does not need a canister filter to drive it.

The backside spacer lets it sit on a rimmed or a rimless tank, and the flow control slider takes it down far enough to use on a small aquarium.

Safety & Precautions

Unplug the unit at the mains before putting your hands in the tank or opening it up. Water and a live mains connection are the one combination in this hobby that can actually kill you.

Leave a drip loop in the cable — a downward bend below the socket — so water running down the flex drips off the bottom of the loop instead of running into the socket.

Do not run it out of water. Watch the tank level — the intake floats, but only within its travel.

Rinse the sponge regularly in old tank water. A blocked skimmer sponge is a skimmer that has stopped working, and the surface film comes straight back.

The skimmer with its floating intake assembly, the fine filter sponge, the output diffuser and the backside spacer. The whole unit is modular, so every part comes off for cleaning.

Warranty & Support

This product carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty from the date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship, which Fluval extends to 5 years free of charge if you register the product.

Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first — most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi or Pune warehouse, whichever one served your order, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
