This genuine Fluval Intake/Output Kit is a direct-fit replacement for its matching Fluval canister filter model.
For Fluval 307 and 407 Canister Filters.
Fluval item #A20052, UPC 015561300520. The intake/output kit for the 307 and 407 canister filters — the rigid tube work that carries water from the tank to the hosing and back again.
Fluval publish no dimensions for the kit, only the item number and the models it fits. The item number is what to match: A20052 for a 307 or 407, A20051 for a 107 or 207.
307 and 407 canister filters only. Fluval’s own compatibility statement for A20052. The 107 and 207 use item A20051 — the two kits are not interchangeable.
The hosing that pairs with this kit is A20015, 9.8 ft / 3 m by 17 mm, which Fluval list for the 305/405, 306/406 and 307/407.
Where the intake goes matters more than most people expect. Fluval’s instruction for the 07 Series is to keep the intake tube away from any air source — an air stone, an aeration device, or the filter’s own output. Air drawn into the strainer diminishes filter efficiency, and on a canister it can break the siphon altogether.
And the water level matters too. Fluval require that the water level never sits more than 7 in / 17.5 cm below the aquarium rim, and that the canister base is never more than 4.5 ft / 1.4 m below the water level. Both are conditions on the tube work you are fitting here.
Fluval replace this part yearly. The intake stem and strainer are on their 07 Series chart as a yearly replacement, with the footnote that pipes gradually block with protein slime and waste. On an unusually shallow tank Fluval note the intake tube may need to be cut down, and that this takes a hacksaw rather than the utility knife the rest of the setup needs.
Close the valves, unplug, then drain. Before any part of a canister filter comes off, Fluval’s sequence is: turn the IN and OUT valves to the closed (horizontal) position, unplug the pump, then disconnect. The canister sits below the tank and is full of water — opening it in the wrong order empties it onto the floor, and on an FX4 or FX6 that is fourteen to twenty litres.

Unplug everything in the tank before your hands go in the water. That is Fluval’s own instruction and it covers every appliance in the aquarium, not just this one. Grasp the plug and pull it; never yank the cord.
A spare is only as safe as the unit it goes into. Fluval’s standing instructions still apply to the filter itself: the power cord cannot be replaced or cut, a unit that has been dropped or shows abnormal leakage should not be put back into service, and repairs go to an authorised service facility rather than a kitchen table.
Fluval print the contents of this kit in the 07 Series
manual’s replacement-parts table, under the heading “07 Series Intake /
Output Kit”. Seven lines, and this is all seven:
Worth knowing before you order: the hosing is not in it.
This kit is the tube work, the valve block and the seals — not the
ribbed hose that runs between the tank and the canister. Fluval sell that
separately, and the two are easy to conflate because both are usually
replaced at the same time. For a 307 or 407 the hose is item A20015, 9.8 ft / 3 m of 17 mm ribbed hosing.
The motor head gasket included here is the same seal Fluval list as a
separate spare, so if you are fitting this kit as part of an annual service
you do not need to buy that gasket twice.
Not published. Fluval give no dimensions for any piece
in this kit — not the length of the intake stem, not the bore of the
hose connector. The item number is the thing to match.
