Compatibility
What it is. KZ's catalogue: contains inorganic iodide, bromine, potassium and fluorine — necessary elements for corals and for biological function — and improves vitality and colouration of all kinds of corals, especially blue and green. Bulk Reef Supply add that unlike other popular iodide supplements it very rarely causes the tissue darkening that iodide can produce, and that its particular target is turquoise and blue.
Where this sits in the Korallen-Zucht range. KZ build everything around four basis products — ZEOvit zeolite media, ZEObak, ZEOfood and ZEOstart — which together are the ZEOvit system. Everything else in the range, this product included, is a layer on top: colour products, problem solvers, and single elements. KZ's own guidance is that the products can each be used separately, without the complete ZEOvit system and without the other KZ products, but that the full effect in quality and colouration comes only from running the system.
Dose it on a different day from ZEObak, CyanoClean and Bio-Mate. KZ are explicit about that separation.
KZ present this as the alternative to the Iodide Complex Concentrate, or as something to rotate with it. The difference is the organic fraction: Iodide Complex has organic and inorganic iodide, this one is inorganic.
No ozone and no UV while you are running the ZEOvit system. That is KZ's instruction, and the reason is the point of the system: ozone and UV destroy the microorganisms and elements the whole method depends on.
KZ's own target water parameters, for any tank running their products: calcium 400–410 mg/L, magnesium 1,260–1,280 mg/L, carbonate hardness 6.5–8, potassium 380–400 mg/L, salinity 33–35 ppt. They add a warning worth repeating: higher figures bring no advantage. Neither growth nor colouration in SPS corals is improved by pushing past these, and higher levels tend to have negative effects.
Dosage & Directions
Korallen-Zucht's own dose. 1 drop per 100 litres every other day. Bulk Reef Supply's maintenance figure is 1 drop per 25 US gallons daily, adjusted to your own tank.
Two dosing figures circulate for this product. The retail label and Bulk Reef Supply's maintenance figure both give 1 drop per 25 US gallons daily. Korallen-Zucht's own 2018 Easy Reefing guide gives 1 drop per 100 litres every other day. Where the two disagree we print Korallen-Zucht's own, and if you are new to the product the lower rate is the one to start on — you can always dose more.
How and where it goes in. Directly into the tank, into the flow. All equipment stays running.
Start below the figure, not at it. KZ's own instruction for a first-time user, a lightly stocked tank, or a tank with little growth: reduce the dosage recommendation and adjust upward. Their words — do not act on the principle that the more the merrier.
Calculate on gross volume. KZ ask you to use the gross water amount for dosing arithmetic, not a net figure with rock and sand deducted.
Overdosing turns yellow corals green. KZ's warning on both iodide products. Bulk Reef Supply give the working rule: if yellow corals develop a green shimmer, stop until the yellow returns; if blue Acropora go flat, dose more.
Pack Size
This listing is the 100 ml pack.
We stock it in 50 ml and 100 ml. The contents are identical; only the bottle changes. If you are dosing a large system daily, the larger packs are the ones to ask about.
Buy the size you will actually get through. These are concentrated additives dosed in millilitres and drops. A 5-litre container on a nano tank is not a saving; it is a bottle that will outlive its usefulness on the shelf.
Freshness & Storage
Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months' remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.
