The ReefMat comes fully assembled, straight out of the box. Designed to hang on a sump wall to conserve space, but also including mounting legs, you can place the ReefMat anywhere you want in your sump that has the space available. Both the drive unit and inlet hose can be positioned on either side of the ReefMat making installation work for any sump set up.
The ReefMat 500 comes with one 28m fleece roll (Replacement rolls can be found HERE). Each roll should last roughly 5-8 weeks on a moderately stocked 80 gallon reef system; however, bare-bottom tanks will typically exhaust rolls at a faster rate. Additionally, usage rate may be significantly higher for the first few weeks after installing a ReefMat while your system adjusts to the new level of mechanical filtration.

ReefBeat gives you timely notifications when the fleece not only needs maintenance, but also if it should get stuck or torn. If any error occurs, the motor will simply not attempt to feed any more fleece until the issue is resolved. The end of Roll Monitor function lets you know the daily average use, and how many days you have left before the filter roll runs out so you can plan ahead.

Red Sea do not print an itemised scope of delivery for this product. The list below is built from the parts and components named in Red Sea's own manual for it. If something on it is missing from your carton, tell us and we will take it up with the distributor.

Safety & Precautions

• Indoor use only. Use only the power supply that came with the unit — a supply rated for fewer watts than the appliance can overheat.
• Do not run the unit if the cord or plug is damaged, if it is malfunctioning, or if it has been dropped. Do not attempt a cord repair yourself; return it for service or discard it.
• Leave a drip loop in every cord — the low point of the cable must sit below the socket so water running down the cable drips off rather than reaching the outlet. If a plug or socket does get wet, do not unplug it: kill the circuit at the breaker first.
• Unplug before fitting or removing parts and before cleaning. Pull the plug, never the cord.
• Keep children away from the equipment, and do not touch moving parts while it is running.
• Do not install or store it where it will be exposed to weather or to temperatures below freezing.
• Seawater aquariums only. That is Red Sea's own restriction on the ReefMat, not a preference.
• Rating: 5 to 45 °C, 15–85 % RH, 100–240 V 50/60 Hz, 1 A at 10 W maximum, 12 Vdc, wireless 2402–2480 MHz at 32.43 mW.
• The hose connector has a left-hand thread. Turning it the way instinct says will loosen it. Spread the liquid sealant on the first 2 cm / 0.8" of the hose's inner surface with the finger-cover provided, screw the connector in until tight, and wipe out the excess. The pipe can be used before the sealant dries.
• Onboard the unit to ReefBeat before installing the fleece mat, not after.
• There are two solid-state level sensors and both matter: one inside the chamber drives the mat, one outside catches a high sump level when the return pump is off. Do not leave the external one disconnected.
• The drive unit stops the motor on a blocked or torn mat and notifies ReefBeat rather than feeding more fleece into the fault. If it has stopped, find the tear before you restart it.
• Leave 15 cm / 6" of side clearance for the media basket on an RM500, or you will not get it out to service it.
• Do not touch the take-up shaft or the roller while the motor is running.

Warranty & Support

This product is covered by warranty as per the manufacturer policy, against material and manufacturing defects from the date of purchase.

Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first — most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi or Pune warehouse, whichever one served your order, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
