Composition & Analysis

Composition, as Tetra publish it. Derivatives of
vegetable origin, fish and fish derivatives, minerals, molluscs and
crustaceans. Worth reading twice on a food for herbivorous reptiles: fish,
molluscs and crustaceans are in Tetra’s own ingredient list, so this is not a
plant-only food.

Tetra publish two different analyses for this product.
Not two products — the same Tetra Tortoise, on two of Tetra’s own
sites. We are not going to pick one for you, so here are both.

• Vitamin A — 4,381 IU/kg; Vitamin D3 — 183 IU/kg

The calcium to phosphorus ratio is the number that matters
here, and only one of the two pages gives it. On the European
figures it works out at 2:1 — calcium at twice
phosphorus, which is the direction a shell and a skeleton need. The
rest-of-world page does not publish either figure, so on those numbers you
cannot check it at all.

The two pages also disagree about colourants. Tetra’s
European page says the recipe is made “without colourants and added
preservatives”. Tetra’s rest-of-world page lists Colourants among
the additives for the same product. Both are Tetra’s own words. If that
matters to you, the additive panel printed on the tub you receive is the one
that governs, and we have asked our supplier which formulation the Indian
pack carries.

Not published on either page: crude ash, any
per-ingredient percentage, the identity of the minerals or of the
multivitamin complex beyond vitamins A and D3, and a shelf life for an
unopened pack.

Feeding Guide

Moisten it before you feed it. Tetra’s instruction, and
it is the one step people skip. The granules go in dry, swell in the animal’s
gut and take water with them; wetting them first is how you avoid that.

How much. Tetra give the ration as time rather than
weight: only as much as your tortoises can eat within twelve
hours. Anything still sitting there after that was too much, and on
a food this high in fibre it will spoil in a warm vivarium.

It is a staple, not the whole diet. Tetra are explicit
that leaf lettuce and fresh herbs should be added for a properly balanced
diet. Treat this as the fixed part of the diet that the fresh greens are fed
alongside.

Storage. Away from sunlight, in a cool dry place —
Tetra’s own words. A tub left on a warm vivarium hood is the fastest way to
lose the vitamin A, and vitamin A is a large part of why this food exists.

Who it is for, and one thing to know. Tetra’s European
page describes this only as a food for tortoises, of every species and every
age. Tetra’s rest-of-world page for the same product adds a line saying it is
“ideal for both young and fully-grown green iguanas and herbivorous
reptiles”, which is the bullet reproduced further up this page. That is
Tetra’s claim, not ours, and the two Tetra pages do not agree on it. If you
keep an iguana rather than a tortoise, take that line up with Tetra before
you make this the animal’s staple.

What Tetra do not publish: a quantity in grams, a ration
by shell length or body weight, a number of feeds per day or per week, and
any different instruction for hatchlings as against adults. Those are
judgement calls on the animal in front of you, and inventing numbers for them
here would be worse than leaving the gap visible.

Pack Size

This listing is the 1 litre pack. Tetra publish its
weight as 200 g. That is the number to use if you are
comparing this against a reptile food sold by weight — a litre of light
granules is not a kilo of anything.

The rest of the range, as Tetra list it. Their European
page shows 500 ml / 100 g and 1 L / 200 g. Their
rest-of-world page shows 250 ml / 50 g and 1 L / 200 g.
The two pages list different small sizes; the 1 litre is the one they
both carry, and it is the one on this page.

What is in the box: the food and nothing else. There is
no scoop, no measure and no supplement in the pack.

Not published: the pack’s dimensions, whether the Indian
pack is the same tub as the European one, and how long an opened tub keeps.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
