Feeding Guide

The dose: about one level micro-spoon per shrimp, once or twice a day. That is Dennerle’s own current recommendation for article 6118. It scales with the number of animals, not with the volume of the tank — ten fan shrimp get ten micro-spoons, whatever size tank they live in.

Do not sprinkle it in dry. Dennerle’s method is specific and it is the whole point of a powdered food for fan shrimp: stir the powder into a little water in a cup first, then either feed the animals directly with a pipette, or pour the mixture into the water flow at a suitable spot.

Why it is a powder and not a pellet. Fan shrimp — Atyopsis and Atya — do not pick food off the floor. They sit in the current with their fans open and strain particles out of the water. A pellet on the substrate is useless to them; a cloud of fine particles drifting past is a meal. That is why Dennerle emphasise the optimally designed particle size, and why the delivery method matters as much as the food.

Feed into the flow, and find the spot your shrimp use. A fan shrimp picks a favourite perch in the strongest current it can find and sits there. Deliver the mixture upstream of that perch with a pipette and you will see the fans open and close as the cloud passes. Dosing at the far end of the tank feeds your filter.

Twice a day is not overfeeding, if you get the quantity right. A filter feeder eats more or less continuously in the wild, and a micro-spoon is a very small measure. Dennerle note that the particle size is chosen to reduce water pollution as well as to be eaten efficiently — but a cloud that clears in seconds has fed nothing, and a tank that stays hazy for an hour has been overfed.

What it is aimed at: Dennerle name Atya gabonensis, Atya innocus, Atya margaritacea and Atyopsis moluccensis specifically. If you keep dwarf shrimp — Neocaridina, Caridina — this is not their food; they want a food they can hold and graze, and Dennerle make several in the same Shrimp King range.

What Dennerle put in it, and why: proteins and essential amino acids from insect larvae and crustaceans for growth and reproduction; vitamins and secondary plant compounds from algae and vegetables; Moringa oleifera leaf for vital substances and immune support; fibre for digestion; and natural carotenoids to develop each species’ own colours and markings.

Storage: re-close the container after every feed and keep it dry at room temperature. A powdered food that takes up moisture from the air clumps, and clumps will not disperse into the cloud the shrimp need.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.
