PhosGuard rapidly removes phosphate and silicate from marine and freshwater aquaria. Although PhosGuard is effective in both fresh and marine water, it will operate better in sea water and the need for it is better defined in sea water. It is not recommended for phosphate buffered freshwater (PhosGuard would remove the buffer until saturated). PhosGuard is highly porous and bead-shaped to promote easy water flow through and around it, thereby increasing both its efficiency and capacity.

Specifications

A granular aluminium oxide that adsorbs phosphate and silicate from fresh and salt water.

Capacity: binds 0.87 mg of phosphate per gram.

Coverage: 85 mL treats about 200 L (50 US gallons) of salt water or 400 L (100 US gallons) of fresh water.

Typical service life: around four days in a tank with a high phosphate load, considerably longer once levels are under control.

Setup & Use

Pre-wet it before use, then place the bag where water is driven through it. Do not run it in a media reactor: the tumbling grinds the granules and puts dust into the tank.

Test phosphate after about four days. Replace when the reading stops falling and starts to rise again. It cannot be regenerated.

Small amounts used continuously work better than a large charge used occasionally.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Filter media and substrates carry no manufacturing or expiry date — their working life begins on first contact with water, not on the shelf.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
