Based on the wildly successful and reliable Sicce platform, the Red Sea ReefRun pumps feature a familiar look and feel, but with some big upgrades. In addition to being able to set the daily flow schedule and activate feed modes, you’ll also get notifications if your pump is running dry, disconnects, or is otherwise malfunctioning, allowing you to quickly fix the problem and get everything back up and running without missing a beat.

The ReefRun Controller (sold separately) can run two ReefRun pumps, meaning that you can run a dual ReefRun return system or ReefRun pump + ReefRun skimmer pump without purchasing a second controller.

Setup & Use

What it is supplied to do. Red Sea supply the ReefRun with fittings for a fully submerged sump installation only. Running it externally needs additional fittings, which come from a dealer, not the box. Hose clips are not supplied either.

Fittings. This model carries hose barbs for 25/32 mm hose (1″ and 1-1/4″), plus connectors for rigid pipe and 1″ GAS threaded rings.

Placement. Four rubber feet under the pump. Rotate the flow guide so the water inlets face the bottom of the sump.

Cleaning. The impeller shaft carries a very strong magnet and the “UP” marking goes at the top on reassembly. The ceramic bearing at the bottom is fragile: handle it as glass. Soak the wet end in diluted vinegar with all rubber parts removed first.

Protection. The pump shuts down on a dry run or a blocked impeller and tries to restart. After several failed attempts it stops; disconnect it from the controller cable for about 30 seconds to clear the condition, once you have found out why it stalled.

Indoor use only.

Compatibility

A ReefRun Dual Controller is required. Red Sea’s own wording is that the ReefRun pumps can only be used when connected to a ReefRun Dual controller. It is a separate purchase and drives up to two devices: two ReefRun return pumps, one REEFER DC skimmer, or one of each. There is no way to run this pump standalone.

Performance. 3,000: 7,000 l/h (800: 1,900 US gph), head 2.0: 5.0 m (6.5: 16.5 ft), 20: 65 W. At a 125 cm head Red Sea measure it at 3,700 l/h, or about 560 kWh a year.

Which REEFER it suits. Red Sea’s own return-pump recommendation for the G2+ systems:

• 1× ReefRun 5500: REEFER 170, 200, 250, 300, 350 and 425 G2+
• 1× ReefRun 7000: REEFER 525 and 625 G2+
• 2× ReefRun 5500 or 1× ReefRun 7000 to REEFER S-550, S-700, 750, P-350, P-500 and PS-700 G2+
• 2× ReefRun 7000 to REEFER S-850, 900, PS-950 and S-1000 G2+

The return pump is not included with any REEFER G2+ system, so this table is what you size against when buying one.

This is a ReefBeat device. Full functionality needs Red Sea’s free ReefBeat app on an Android or iOS phone or tablet, a home Wi-Fi network and a live internet connection. Without internet you can still run it in Offline or Direct mode, but remote access, control from more than one device and status notifications are not available.

Safety & Precautions

• Indoor use only. Use only the power supply that came with the unit to a supply rated for fewer watts than the appliance can overheat.
• Do not run the unit if the cord or plug is damaged, if it is malfunctioning, or if it has been dropped. Do not attempt a cord repair yourself; return it for service or discard it.
• Leave a drip loop in every cord to the low point of the cable must sit below the socket so water running down the cable drips off rather than reaching the outlet. If a plug or socket does get wet, do not unplug it: kill the circuit at the breaker first.
• Unplug before fitting or removing parts and before cleaning. Pull the plug, never the cord.
• Keep children away from the equipment, and do not touch moving parts while it is running.
• Do not install or store it where it will be exposed to weather or to temperatures below freezing.
• The impeller shaft holds a very strong magnet. Keep fingers out from between it and anything ferrous, and keep it away from cards, drives and pacemakers.
• The ceramic bearing at the bottom of the impeller housing breaks if you force it. Do not lever the impeller out.
• Never run the pump dry. It has dry-run protection, but that is a backstop, not a licence.
• Remove every rubber part before soaking anything in diluted vinegar, and rinse thoroughly before it goes back in the sump.
• Red Sea warrant the ReefRun motor for 5 years and the impellor for 6 months to the impellor is classed as a wear part, and that is worth knowing before you plan a maintenance budget.

Warranty & Support

Red Sea warrant the ReefRun DC pump range for 5 years from the date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship.

Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first. Most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi or Pune warehouse, whichever one served your order, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 48 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
