Seachem Equilibrium is specifically designed to establish the ideal mineral content for the planted aquarium. Equilibrium contains no sodium or chloride (which can be detrimental to a planted aquarium at elevated levels). Equilibrium is ideally suited for use with RO (reverse osmosis) or DI (deionized) water or any mineral deficient water. Equilibrium raises the essential mineral/electrolyte content (General Hardness) of the water to balance with and promote stability of the carbonate hardness. To maintain KH, we recommend Alkaline Buffer.

Unlike competing products, Equilibrium contains NO SODIUM CHLORIDE. Both sodium and chloride are not rapidly depleted elements in a planted aquarium, and, in the case of chloride, can do more harm than good. Competitors’ products generally contain primarily sodium chloride (because it is inexpensive), which will raise the electrolyte levels for fish, but can be detrimental to plant growth. In addition, sodium is not a contributing cation to GH levels. Equilibrium™ contains only calcium, magnesium, and potassium salts, which aid in fish metabolism, but are also highly beneficial to plant growth.

Compatibility

What it is. Equilibrium is Seachem’s mineral supplement for the planted freshwater aquarium: it raises general hardness (GH) by restoring calcium, magnesium and potassium, the electrolytes plants and fish both draw on, without adding sodium or chloride.

Where this sits in the Seachem range. Seachem makes two GH-restoring products with opposite audiences: Equilibrium for planted tanks, and Replenish for tanks without live plants. The difference is the salt content: Replenish’s sodium and chloride are harmless to fish but can work against plants, so Equilibrium leaves them out entirely.

Best suited to. Tanks running on RO or DI water, where GH has to be built up from nothing, and any planted tank where hardness needs raising or maintaining without disturbing the plant-safe balance.

Composition & Analysis

Guaranteed analysis, per 1 g: soluble potash (K2O) 23.0%, calcium (Ca) 8.06%, magnesium (Mg) 2.41%, iron (Fe) 0.11%, manganese (Mn) 0.06%. Derived from potassium sulfate, calcium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, ferric sulfate and manganese sulfate. Contains no chlorides, phosphates or nitrogenous pollutants.

Dosage & Directions

Seachem’s own dose. Add 16 g (1 level tablespoon) per 80 L (20 US gallons) to raise GH by 1 meq/L (3 dH). For plants, Seachem’s general guide is 1-2 meq/L (3-6 dH), ideally matched to the tank’s carbonate hardness (KH).

How it goes in. For best solubility, mix the dose into about 1 L (1 qt.) of water first (the mixture will look opaque white) before adding it to the tank. A slight haze afterwards is normal and clears within 15 to 30 minutes.

Don’t use it for topping off. Equilibrium is not for replacing evaporated water; dose it into new water at setup or during a water change. It’s formulated for DI/RO water: for tap or other source water, measure GH first and dose to the shortfall.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 48 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
