How to use BioDigest

Compatibility

BioDigest is the bacterial core of the Prodibio system and the one product in the range that works in both freshwater and marine aquariums.

• Named strains from Prodibio’s own datasheet: nitrifying bacteria such as Nitrosomonas europaea and Nitrobacter winogradskyi, and heterotrophic strains such as Paracoccus denitrificans and Pseudomonas stutzeri, in what Prodibio describe as optimal proportions.
• Some of the strains biosynthesise nitrate-reducing enzymes under aerobic conditions, which is how the consortium reduces nitrate and phosphate rather than only converting ammonia.
• Its micronutrient partner depends on the tank: Bioptim in marine water, BioTrace in fresh water. BioDigest works without them but Prodibio designed the pair together.
• Also the bacterial half of the BioClean kits (BioClean Salt with Bioptim, BioClean Fresh with BioTrace) and of BioKit Reef.
• Compatible with any filtration or dosing scheme — it seeds the live rock and substrate rather than the water column.

Prodibio’s reason for the 15-day cycle: BioDigest is most effective in the first two weeks, and different strains establish at different speeds. If you want to purify faster, their instruction is to dose more often — not to increase the dose.

Pack Size

6 sealed glass ampoules of 1 ml. Prodibio’s Standard rate for BioDigest is one ampoule per 1,000 litres every 15 days — much further-reaching than the rest of the range, which is why the same box size lasts so much longer.

• Six ampoules is six fortnightly doses: about three months in a system up to 1,000 litres.
• Prodibio state 50 billion bacteria in each 1 ml ampoule.
• The Pro range takes it further again at one ampoule per 10,000 litres; Prodibio also box BioDigest in 12 and 30.

Prodibio supply this as sealed 1 ml glass ampoules. The glass is the point: it keeps the contents away from oxygen until the moment you use them. Shake the ampoule, put the cap over one tip and press with your thumb to snap it, then turn it open-end down just above the water, snap the other tip and pour.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
