Fluval FX Gravel Cleaner Kit

The Fluval FX Gravel Vac connects directly to FX4 and FX6 canister filters for fast, convenient powered substrate cleaning.

Rated for water up to about 76 cm / 30 in deep. That is Fluval's own figure from the instruction manual, and it is the specification that decides whether the kit suits your tank. The kit includes a tube extension for deeper tanks and hard-to-reach areas, and stores in the clips on the FX lid.

The vacuum bags are not included. Fluval's integrated filter housing takes Fine and Super Fine vacuum bags, items A372 and A373, and both are sold separately. Worth knowing before the kit arrives.

Setup & Use

Keep the vacuum submerged the whole time it is running. This is Fluval's own warning, in capitals in their manual, and it is the one thing that can go badly wrong: lift the vacuum out while the filter is running and the filter draws air, which evacuates water from the aquarium and can overflow it. Check the tank's water level frequently while you work.

Open the valve gradually once the head is underwater so it does not snatch. Work the tube over the substrate so it draws a continuous flow of gravel up and drops it back, and move on to the next area as the water clears. The gravel guard stops the head clogging and the thumb-operated flow control is there so you can throttle it without straightening up.

Fluval choose the nozzle by depth: the longer nozzle for deeper aquariums, the shorter one for shallower. And nothing from this kit goes in a dishwasher — their manual says so explicitly.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months' remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Filter media and substrates carry no manufacturing or expiry date — their working life begins on first contact with water, not on the shelf.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
