Setup & Use

What it is for. Splitting a tank into two compartments with a sheet of glass or acrylic — for separating aggressive fish, isolating a sick or recovering fish, keeping a pair apart before spawning, or growing out fry in the same water as the adults.

Why not suction cups. ISTA’s own selling point, and it is the right one. Suction cups perish, cloud, and let go in the night, and they sit in the middle of the front pane where you have to look at them. A clip holds the divider at the edge, out of the sightline.

Cut the divider to fit the tank, not the tank to fit the divider. Measure the internal width at the point where the divider will sit, allow a small clearance, and have the glass or acrylic cut and the edges polished. A raw-cut edge will cut you when you install it.

Leave the divider slightly short of the surface. A divider that seals the tank into two halves gives you two bodies of water with separate temperatures and separate chemistry. Leave a gap so the water circulates over the top.

Filtration and heat have to reach both sides. A single filter outlet on one side of a divider leaves the other side stagnant. Position the return so flow travels over or around the divider, or run a sponge filter in the second compartment.

Fish jump over dividers. Any tank divided to keep two fish apart needs a lid. This is not a hypothetical risk with cichlids and bettas.

ISTA publish no divider thickness for the clip, so tell us the material you plan to use and we will check the clip in stock before you order.

ISTA do not publish how many clips are in a pack, nor how many a divider needs. In practice a divider wants a clip at each end, and taller dividers want more than one per side. The divider glass or acrylic is not included — this is the fitting only.

Ask us for the pack count before you order if you are working out how many to buy.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
