ZEOstart 3 by Korallen-Zucht promotes nitrifying bacteria growth for a biological approach to reducing phosphate and nitrate in reef tanks.

ZEOstart 3 was developed for reefers who want optimum water parameters in a biological way. It promotes the reproduction of all nitrifying bacteria in the aquarium and is therefore very effective in reducing phosphate and nitrate, nitrite and several inhibitors.

The skimmer removes up to 100 % more concentrated adsorbent. Bacteria dependent slime algae dis-appears rapidly and a biological balance is re-established. To start a new tank it shortens the initial phase enormously to about only 14 days. This product is not only for the initial phase, it should be dosed every day in all tanks. It enhances the metallic colors on Acropora, Montipora, Poccilopora and Stylophora. Soft corals grow faster and open the polyps wider. Dose directly into the water. Do not increase dosage of 2 ml per 250 gallons/1000 L daily – please note that it is highly concentrated.

Compatibility

What it is. A carbon source that feeds the nitrifying bacteria. KZ's catalogue: optimal water parameters in a biological way, reducing phosphate, nitrate, nitrite and several inhibitors.

Where this sits in the Korallen-Zucht range. KZ build everything around four basis products — ZEOvit zeolite media, ZEObak, ZEOfood and ZEOstart — which together are the ZEOvit system. Everything else in the range, this product included, is a layer on top: colour products, problem solvers, and single elements. KZ's own guidance is that the products can each be used separately, without the complete ZEOvit system and without the other KZ products, but that the full effect in quality and colouration comes only from running the system.

One of the four basis products. Bulk Reef Supply add that if you are starting the system with a high nutrient load, 2 ml per 250 US gallons daily until levels drop, then 1–2 ml per 250 gallons, and that results are best when the day's dose is split up and automated.

No ozone and no UV while you are running the ZEOvit system. That is KZ's instruction, and the reason is the point of the system: ozone and UV destroy the microorganisms and elements the whole method depends on.

KZ's own target water parameters, for any tank running their products: calcium 400–410 mg/L, magnesium 1,260–1,280 mg/L, carbonate hardness 6.5–8, potassium 380–400 mg/L, salinity 33–35 ppt. They add a warning worth repeating: higher figures bring no advantage. Neither growth nor colouration in SPS corals is improved by pushing past these, and higher levels tend to have negative effects.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months' remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Backorder & Dispatch Timeline

This item is stocked to order. Back-orders are consolidated and placed with our overseas suppliers once a month, on the last day of the month, and all such orders are shipped before the 15th of the following month.

Back-orders cannot be cancelled once they have been placed with the supplier. If you cancel before that, payment-gateway charges of 2% plus GST are deducted and the balance refunded. In the rare case a supplier cannot fulfil the item, we will offer you an alternative first, and refund in full with no deduction if you would rather not take it.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
