Compatibility

Fluval item A20206, for the FX5 and FX6 canister filters. It does not fit the FX2 or FX4, or any of the 06/07 series.

Setup & Use

Unplug the filter, close the valves and take the motor head off. The impeller assembly lifts out of its well; clean the well before the new one goes in, because grit left in there is what wears the next impeller too.

Turn the new assembly by hand before you refit the head — it should spin freely with no catch.

The impeller is the only part of a filter that runs continuously, so it is a wear item, not a fault. A filter that has become noisy or lost flow usually wants its impeller cleaned first and replaced second.

Safety & Precautions

Unplug the unit at the mains before putting your hands in the tank or opening it up. Water and a live mains connection are the one combination in this hobby that can actually kill you.

Leave a drip loop in the cable — a downward bend below the socket — so water running down the flex drips off the bottom of the loop instead of running into the socket.

Unplug the filter and close the valves before removing the motor head.

The impeller is a strong magnet. Keep it away from other magnets, from cards with magnetic strips, and from anything that will snap onto it hard enough to chip the ceramic shaft.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
