POTASSIUM Supplement is part of the complete range of complementary major, minor and trace element complexes which together provide the needs of corals.

POTASSIUM Supplement contains potassium and boron that are associated with many biological processes, one of them being the production of the red pigments in the soft tissue of corals.

Potassium plays an essential role in the transportation of coral nutrients within the soft tissue (including the nutrients provided by the zooxanthellae). Potassium and boron significantly affect the alkalinity of a corals soft tissue and the formation of aragonite in its skeleton. Potassium is related to the red chromo-proteins.

Compatibility

Marine and reef aquariums only. None of the Reef Care Program supplements belong in a freshwater tank.

Coral Colors B — Red Sea now call this line Trace Colors, so this is Trace Colors B under its earlier name.

It supplies potassium and boron. Both are involved in nutrient transport and in laying down the aragonite skeleton, and they are the elements associated with the red pigments in coral tissue.

Red Sea build the four Trace Colors supplements as a set covering the 31 minor and trace elements found in coral skeleton and tissue — all 31 are needed by every stony coral, whatever colour it happens to be. Red Sea recommend running them alongside NO3:PO4-X for nutrient control.

Dosage & Directions

1 ml raises potassium in 100 litres (25 US gal) by 1.75 ppm.

Red Sea tie the Trace Colors dose to calcium consumption rather than to tank volume, on a 10:1 rule: 1 ml of each colour supplement for every 20 ppm of calcium you have added per 100 litres. A tank growing coral fast consumes calcium fast and needs the trace elements at the same pace; a tank that is barely growing needs almost none.

That is why there is no fixed daily dose. Dosing these to a schedule instead of to consumption is how people end up with elevated trace elements and no idea why the colour has gone off.

Red Sea’s whole programme is built on dosing to a measured requirement rather than to a schedule. Test first, work out what the tank is actually consuming, and dose that. Red Sea publish a MyRecipe calculator that does the arithmetic from your test results and tank volume.

Pack Size

Red Sea make each Trace Colors supplement in 100 ml, which is the size in the four-bottle value pack, and in 500 ml as a single bottle.

Because the dose follows calcium consumption, a 500 ml bottle lasts a long time on a soft-coral tank and no time at all on a heavily stocked SPS system. Buy to your calcium demand, not to your tank volume.

Keep it closed, cool and out of direct light, and out of reach of children.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
