Seachem Acid Buffer lowers and buffers pH from 5.0-8.0 without phosphate, converting carbonate hardness into available CO2 for planted tanks.

Acid Buffer is a non–phosphate buffer to lower pH and buffer with Alkaline Buffer. Both buffers are designed for the planted aquarium or for very hard water where phosphate buffers may pose an algae or cloudiness problem. Acid Buffer lowers pH and buffers between 6.0 and 8.0 when used with Alkaline Buffer. As Acid Buffer lowers pH it converts carbonate alkalinity (KH) into available CO₂.

Compatibility

Freshwater, including planted tanks — it is phosphate-free, so it does not bring the algae and cloudiness that phosphate buffers can.

It works by converting carbonate alkalinity into usable CO₂, which is a second benefit in a planted tank. Used with Alkaline Buffer it holds any pH between 6.0 and 8.0.

Dosage & Directions

Use 2 g (¼ teaspoon) for every 80 L (20 US gallons) daily until the target pH is reached. Each such dose lowers alkalinity by about 0.6 dKH.

In soft or poorly buffered water, use it with Alkaline Buffer rather than alone — ratios run from 1:1.3 for pH 6.5 to 1:4.0 for pH 8.0. It causes serious eye irritation; keep it away from children and avoid skin contact.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months' remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
