Seachem CupriSorb is a powerful, copper-specific chelating resin that removes all types of copper and heavy metals from aquarium water.

Description

Size : 250 ml

Description

CupriSorb is a powerful adsorbent of copper and heavy metals. CupriSorb will remove copper more rapidly and efficiently than carbon and is thus ideal for emergency copper removal. It extracts all types of copper from water and, if in continuous use, from the gravel/substrate bed as well. CupriSorb will allow maintenance of invertebrates in copper-treated tanks by removing copper leaching from substrates. Competing products are not chelating products, but merely cation exchange resins. Such resins can remove copper from freshwater but are ineffective in saltwater.

Directions

Use 250 mL for every 600 L (150 US gallons) to remove up to 7,500 mg (12 ppm) of copper. Use in filter media bag such as The Bag. For best results, CupriSorb should be placed so as to maximize the flow of water through it. To remove undetectable substrate leaching copper keep CupriSorb in use for at least 2 weeks after copper tests report no copper. Use in a canister filter, chemical filtration module, box filter, or any high flow area of a trickle filter. Exhaustion is indicated by a pronounced discoloration of the beads to a deep blue black color. Use MultiTest: Copper to monitor copper. When exhausted, CupriSorb may be discarded or regenerated. REGENERATION: Soak in a non-metal container with 2 cups of water and 1⁄2 cup of muriatic acid (available with pool supplies: PAY HEED TO WARNINGS on acid container!). This is best done outside and away from children. Soak for 1 hour, rinse well. Repeat as required to restore the original color. Rinse well, add sodium bicarbonate until foaming stops, and rinse again. CupriSorb™ is now ready for reuse. If original color cannot be restored after several acid washes, proceed with rinses and bicarbonate step, then regenerate as HyperSorb or Purigen.

Composition & Analysis

What it is. CupriSorb is Seachem’s copper-specific chelating resin — a different chemistry from an ordinary cation exchange resin, which is what lets it work in saltwater where cation exchangers are compromised by the high concentration of other cations already in the water.

What it removes. Seachem states it extracts all forms of copper, including chelated copper, more rapidly and efficiently than carbon — making it the emergency option when copper needs to come out of the water fast, after a copper-based medication course, for instance.

Setup & Use

Seachem’s own dose. 250 ml per 600 litres (150 US gallons), rated to remove up to 7,500 mg (12 ppm) of copper.

How and where it goes in. Maximise flow through it — a canister filter, a chemical filtration module, a box filter, or any high-flow area of a trickle filter.

How long to run it. Keep it in place for at least 2 weeks after a copper test reads clear, since copper can continue leaching from substrate and decor after the water column itself tests clean.

Exhaustion. Watch for the beads turning a pronounced deep blue-black — Seachem’s stated sign it’s spent. Confirm with Seachem’s MultiTest Copper kit rather than colour alone.

Regeneration. Seachem’s own method: soak the spent beads in a non-metal container with 2 cups of water and ½ cup of muriatic acid for about an hour, then rinse thoroughly; repeat the acid soak if the beads haven’t returned to their original colour. Finish with a sodium bicarbonate rinse until foaming stops, then a final rinse. Muriatic acid is a pool-supply product — follow its own container warnings and regenerate outdoors, away from children.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Filter media and substrates carry no manufacturing or expiry date — their working life begins on first contact with water, not on the shelf.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
