This Seachem filter sock removes suspended debris and detritus before it breaks down into excess nitrate and phosphate, protecting water quality.
Description
Filter socks are a critical component in maintaining water quality in aquariums. They remove suspended debris and detritus, which often lead to excess dissolved organics, nitrate, and phosphate when left unchecked.
This makes Seachem Filter Socks an integral addition to any sump and overflow system. Seachem Filter Socks feature durable, welded seams and have a singed finish, which reduces wear and prevents release of fibers back into the water column.
In addition to a 250 micron rating for exceptional particulate removal, they feature welded seams, which, unlike threaded seams of similar products, will not breakdown over time. They have a singed finish, which reduces wear and prevents release of fibers back into the water column. Finally, the plastic collar simplifies installation and easily fits standard sump fittings.
See our guide to choosing filter media for how this product fits into a complete filtration setup.
Specifications
17.5 × 40.5 cm (7 × 16 in), with a 17.5 cm moulded collar to fit standard sump fittings.
Seams are welded rather than stitched, and the mesh is singed so it resists wear and does not shed fibres back into the water column.
Setup & Use
Drop it into any standard sump or overflow made for collared filter socks — the moulded plastic collar does the locating.
Change or clean it once it discolours, which in most systems is anything from a few days to a week. A blocked sock overflows rather than filters.
Clean it with a high-pressure hose, or soak it for 24 hours in one part bleach to ten parts water and rinse thoroughly, or run it through a washing machine on a moderate setting with a cup of bleach. Rinse until there is no bleach smell left before it goes back in.
Freshness & Storage
Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months' remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.
Filter media and substrates carry no manufacturing or expiry date — their working life begins on first contact with water, not on the shelf.
Returns & Replacement
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.
If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
