Biologically ideal strontium supplement for reef aquariums

A sufficient supply of strontium is as essential for the growth and well-being of reef building corals as calcium. In the reef aquarium, the strontium concentration can drop rapidly to low values due to biological processes, precipitation and incorporation into the limestone skeleton. Tropic Marin BIO STRONTIUM creates a natural environment in the aquarium and delivers strontium and carbon dioxide in a natural, biologically-available, powdered form and thus supports the healthy development of coral. BIO STRONTIUM does not disturb the ionic balance in contrast to the single addition of strontium chloride.

Compatibility

A strontium supplement for marine reef aquariums. Strontium is taken up by stony corals, coralline red algae and the other calcifying reef organisms alongside calcium and magnesium, and biological uptake, precipitation and incorporation into the skeleton can pull it down faster than a water change puts it back.

Tropic Marin make Bio-Strontium from strontium, calcium and sodium salts with bicarbonate and trace elements. It contains no chelates, no phosphate and no nitrate, so it adds nothing to the nutrient budget of the tank.

Use it with a strontium test rather than on a schedule alone. Tropic Marin give the natural seawater concentration as 8 mg/l (ppm) and warn that a high strontium concentration in the aquarium can damage corals, so the level needs to be monitored rather than assumed.

Dosage & Directions

• Basic dose: one level measuring spoon per 190 l (50 US-gal.) of system volume, every two weeks.
• Heavily stocked tanks: the dose may be doubled.
• What one spoon does: one level measuring spoon (5 ml / 0.17 fl.oz.) raises the strontium level of 100 l (26 US-gal.) by about 5 mg/l (ppm).

How to add it: sprinkle the powder directly onto the surface of the aquarium or sump water while the water is being stirred, so it goes into solution as it lands. Take care that no undissolved crystals come into contact with the animals.

Because the maximum safe level is a real ceiling and not a guideline, check the strontium concentration before increasing the dose rather than after.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months' remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
