Phosphates and yellowing substances are not welcome in the aquarium due to their high content. Enduring success is only achieved where concentrations of these two substance groups are kept low. For example, in coral reef aquariums phosphate values of 0.05 mg/l or less should be targeted for good growth and full coloration of stony corals.

Tropic Marin^® ELIMI-PHOS are highly effective granules in practical Quick & Clean filter bags for removing both phosphates and other organic pollutants in the aquarium. Phosphates become so strongly bonded to the ELIMI-PHOS granules that it will never be released, even after the full absorption capacity of the granules is reached. In addition to the effective removal of phosphates, ELIMI-PHOS takes the place of activated charcoal and will improve the general water quality in the aquarium. After a short time growth conditions for invertebrates are improved significantly and undesirable algae growth is restricted.

How to use:

Place 100 g / 3.5 oz. of ELIMI-PHOS per 200 liters / 50 US-gal. of total aquarium system water volume into the tank and position it in the filter or other area of strong water circulation. It is always a good idea to make any changes in your aquarium environment slowly. If the organic load of the aquarium is very high, start with 100 g ELIMI-PHOS per 500 liters/130 US-gal. of system volume and slowly increase to the above recommended maximum. This will give your more delicate plants and animals a gradual introduction to the positive change in water quality.

Note: All organisms require traces of phosphate; 0.00 mg/l (ppm) of phosphate in an aquarium does not suffice. A balance has to be found between feeding (= source of phosphate) and phosphate removal.

ELIMI-PHOS can remain in the aquarium even after its absorption capacity has been reached. When the phosphate level in the aquarium starts to increase again, repeat the above procedure with new ELIMI-PHOS. To closely monitor the phosphate level in your aquarium, we recommend using Tropic Marin^® Phosphate-Test Professional which will indicate phosphate levels even as low as 0.01 mg/l.

Tropic Marin^® still recommends periodic water changes in the aquarium to prevent the built up of undesirable compounds. Regular use of ELIMI-PHOS will also help maintain the highest level of water quality in your aquarium.

Specifications

• Medium: aluminium oxide granulate.
• What is in the can: 200 g supplied as two Quick & Clean filter bags of 100 g each (article 25304), so it can be split across two filters or two stages without decanting loose granules.
• Rate: 100 g per 200 l (50 US-gal.) of total system volume — the two bags in this can cover 400 l at the full rate.
• Gentle start: on a heavily loaded tank, begin at 100 g per 500 l (130 US-gal.) and work up to the full rate, so sensitive animals are not moved too quickly.
• Placement: in the filter or anywhere with strong water circulation; it can also hang free in the tank.
• Maintenance: mix the granules up and rinse the bag briefly under running water once a week.
• Water types: freshwater and saltwater.

Phosphate bound to this granulate is not released again, even once the bag is saturated, so an exhausted bag can be left in place until you are ready to swap it — the sign to replace it is the phosphate reading starting to climb again.

This is the aluminium-oxide Elimi-Phos, which works quickly. It is a different product from Elimi-Phos Longlife (articles 25404, 25414 and 25424), which is an iron-hydroxide granulate chosen for a longer working life rather than speed.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months' remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Filter media and substrates carry no manufacturing or expiry date — their working life begins on first contact with water, not on the shelf.

Backorder & Dispatch Timeline

This item is stocked to order. Back-orders are consolidated and placed with our overseas suppliers once a month, on the last day of the month, and all such orders are shipped before the 15th of the following month.

Back-orders cannot be cancelled once they have been placed with the supplier. If you cancel before that, payment-gateway charges of 2% plus GST are deducted and the balance refunded. In the rare case a supplier cannot fulfil the item, we will offer you an alternative first, and refund in full with no deduction if you would rather not take it.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
