Although easily overlooked with the often immobile plankton filter feeders, sponges, soft and leather corals cover a part of their nutritional requirements with phytoplankton. Natural phytoplankton is an important energy and nutrient source for leather and soft corals, bivalves and other micro filter feeders. In nature, large volumes of water flow through the reef, bringing phytoplankton to the coral. In a reef aquarium this energy supply has to be replaced as naturally as possible in order to provide sufficient nutrients for mobility and metabolism. PRO-CORAL PHYTON is a balanced phytoplankton substitute for all micro filter feeders in the marine aquarium. A blend of high-grade algae supplies the animals with trace elements and high energy carbohydrates that can only be found in the marine environment. Spirulina is rich in carotenoids and together with brewers yeast it satisfies the demand for natural B-vitamins, especially vitamin B 12.

Composition & Analysis

Ingredients: algae, brewer's yeast, spirulina, shrimps and shrimp by-products.

Additives: cellulose 10%, betaine 25 g/kg, vitamin B12 100 mg/kg.

The spirulina supplies carotenoids and, with the brewer's yeast, covers the natural B-group vitamin requirement — vitamin B12 in particular. The algae blend is what carries the trace elements and the energy-rich carbohydrates.

Note that this is a crustacean-derived feed as well as an algal one. Store it in a cool, dry place. Not suitable for human consumption.

Feeding Guide

• Amount: one measuring scoop for every 200 to 500 litres of aquarium volume.
• How often: twice per day.

Preparation matters more than the amount. Stir the measured Phyton into a little aquarium water in a mug and let it soften for a short time first. Then add the prepared mixture to the aquarium slowly, so the animals can actually take it up rather than watch it blow past them into the skimmer.

Tropic Marin's two published enrichments for this feed: add one drop of Lipovit for every two measuring scoops of Phyton to raise its nutritional value, and bind it with Reef Snow if you want larger flakes for animals that take a coarser particle.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months' remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Backorder & Dispatch Timeline

This item is stocked to order. Back-orders are consolidated and placed with our overseas suppliers once a month, on the last day of the month, and all such orders are shipped before the 15th of the following month.

Back-orders cannot be cancelled once they have been placed with the supplier. If you cancel before that, payment-gateway charges of 2% plus GST are deducted and the balance refunded. In the rare case a supplier cannot fulfil the item, we will offer you an alternative first, and refund in full with no deduction if you would rather not take it.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
