Seachem CupriSorb is a powerful, copper-specific chelating resin that removes all types of copper and heavy metals from aquarium water.
CupriSorb is a powerful adsorbent of copper and heavy metals. CupriSorb will remove copper more rapidly and efficiently than carbon and is thus ideal for emergency copper removal. It extracts all types of copper, including chelated copper, and remains effective until it turns a deep blue-black color. It may be regenerated repeatedly. If placed in continuous use, it will gradually extract even precipitated copper from the gravel/substrate bed as well. CupriSorb will allow maintenance of invertebrates in copper-treated tanks by removing copper leaching from substrates.
CupriSorb is a powerful copper specific chelating resin. Competing products are not chelating products, but merely cation exchange resins. Such resins can remove copper from freshwater but are ineffective in saltwater.
A chelating resin that adsorbs copper and other heavy metals, including chelated copper that ordinary media miss. Over time it will also pull precipitated copper back out of the substrate.
Capacity: 250 mL removes up to 12 ppm of copper from 600 L (150 US gallons).
Monitor with a copper test kit rather than guessing at the end point.
Place it where flow is highest — a canister filter, a chemical filtration module, or on the drip plate above the biomedia in a wet/dry system.
It goes deep blue-black as it loads. To regenerate, soak it in a non-metal container in two cups of water with half a cup of muriatic acid for an hour, rinse thoroughly, repeat until the original colour returns, then add sodium bicarbonate until it stops foaming and rinse again.
Take it out once the copper has gone. Fish, corals and invertebrates all need trace metals, and leaving it in permanently strips them out too.
Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.
Filter media and substrates carry no manufacturing or expiry date — their working life begins on first contact with water, not on the shelf.
