The Neptune Systems GRO is a specialized, 20W LED light designed to grow many types of common macroalgaes (i.e. Chaetomorpha) using a specialized light spectrum which maximizes photosynthesis. This unit includes a Flat Bracket Mount which clamps to a flat edge such as the edge of your sump or support on your stand. The GRO uses all its power to emit light in two specific wavelengths that are optimized for macroalgae growth: 455-460nm and 620-670nm. This combined with its rectangular shape (have you ever seen a round refugium?) means that the right light goes right where you need it, and minimizes nuisance algae growth in other areas of your sump due to light spillage.

Some of the most successful reef aquariums employ the use of a macroalgae-filled growth area or refugium for the purpose of nutrient control. Growing and harvesting macroalgae in a compartment in your sump, or in a full-blown refugium, is the natural way to reduce unwanted nutrients in your reef aquarium. It also creates a home and reproductive area for beneficial micro-fauna that consume waste and provide a food source for corals and fish. Growing macroalgae opposite your normal light cycle (called reverse daylight photosynthesis) also helps raise and stabilize your aquarium pH.

Easy Plug & Play Setup

Remove the GRO from the box, plug it into one of your available DC24 connections on an Energy Bar 832 or 1LINK module, select GRO from the tasks menu, and in just a couple of minutes a step by step wizard will have it set up and scheduled.

Better Macroalgae Growth Using Less Power

It may seem counterintuitive, but with far less power than its competitors, the GRO promotes thick, healthy, and abundant macroalgae growth. The GRO does this by using 84 low-powered LEDs, selected for optimal macro algae growth, and spreads them evenly across a wide, rectangular area. This avoids hot spots in the lighting output and enables the GRO to be placed very close to the macroalgae, increasing its efficiency while minimizing wasteful light spillage.

NO Apex or DC24 Port Necessary – Works with the 24v DC Power Supply

Maybe you don’t have a free DC24 port, or even have an Apex at all yet, no worries, with the optionally available 24v Power Supply, the GRO can be used on any aquarium as a standalone refugium light.

Warranty & Support

This product carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty on hardware from the date of purchase. Probes are consumable items and carry a 90-day warranty.

Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first. Most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi warehouse, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.

Backorder & Dispatch Timeline

This item is stocked to order. Back-orders are consolidated and placed with our overseas suppliers once a month, on the last day of the month, and all such orders are shipped before the 15th of the following month.

Back-orders cannot be cancelled once they have been placed with the supplier. If you cancel before that, payment-gateway charges of 2% plus GST are deducted and the balance refunded. In the rare case a supplier cannot fulfil the item, we will offer you an alternative first, and refund in full with no deduction if you would rather not take it.

Setup & Use

This GRO uses the same 20W macroalgae LED panel as the pipe-mount version, on an 18 in gooseneck. The flat bracket clamps to a sump edge or a stand support. Power comes from a powered DC24 port in an Apex setup, or from an optional 24V supply if you run it alone. It is IP64 rated and covers up to 24 x 18 in.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 48 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
