TRACE COLORS ABCD supplements contain the 31 minor and trace elements present in the skeleton and soft tissue of all corals.

The elements in each supplement are related by their biological function and are associated with the production of specific color pigments (Pink, Red, Green/Yellow and Purple/Blue) in the soft tissue of stony corals. All 31 elements are required by all stony corals irrespective of the actual color the coral displays.

Dosage & Directions

Dose all four supplements daily, and test weekly — either calcium, or the individual colour elements with Red Sea's Pro test kits.

Dosing by calcium demand, which is the method for mixed reef and SPS systems: add 1 ml of each Colour supplement for every 20 ppm of calcium you add per 100 litres (25 gallons) of aquarium water, or for every 2 g of calcium taken up. Calculate from your Foundation dosing or from a known calcium uptake.

Add the supplements to the sump. Without a sump, add them slowly into an area of high flow so they never touch a coral directly.

Estimate your net water volume — aquarium plus sump, less rock and sand — because every Reef Care dosing chart is per 100 litres of actual water.

Miss a day or two and you can add the missed amount, but never exceed the daily maximum increase for any element: iodine 0.03 ppm, potassium 10 ppm, iron 0.05 ppm. Larger corrections get spread over several days.

Compatibility

Marine reef aquariums with stony corals. All four are dosed to every mixed reef and SPS system regardless of what colour the corals actually are — the letters describe which pigments each supports, not which corals need it.

Part of Red Sea's Reef Care Program and designed to run alongside Foundation, Reef Energy and NO3:PO4-X. They replace depleted elements; it does not colour a brown coral on its own. Corals go brown from excess Zooxanthellae, which is a nutrient problem, and dosing trace elements into a high-nutrient tank will not fix it.

These elements become toxic above natural seawater levels. Dose to measured demand rather than to a schedule you have guessed. Signs of overdosing: halogens cause tissue regression in stony corals and pale soft corals; potassium and iron cause darkening and nuisance algae; the bioactive complex causes tissue regression and stresses crustaceans. If you overdose, change 25–50% of the water depending on the element and halve the dose.

Red Sea now sell these as Trace Colors rather than Coral Colors. It is the same product under a new name, so bottles labelled either way are interchangeable.

• A — Iodine+: iodine, bromine and fluorine. Antioxidants in coral tissue and mucus; linked to pink pigment.
• B — Potassium+: potassium and boron. Nutrient transport and skeleton formation; linked to red pigment.
• C — Iron+: iron plus seven complementary metals. Respiration, chlorophyll and photosynthesis; linked to green and yellow pigment.
• D — Bioactive Elements: 18 further trace elements. Linked to blue and purple pigment.

How long the set lasts depends entirely on your calcium uptake, so there is no useful figure to quote — a lightly stocked 200 litre soft-coral tank may run a year on it, an SPS system consuming calcium hard will go through it in a couple of months.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months' remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
