Nearly all pet aquatics companies manufacture a product that removes chlorine. None of those, however, can compare in quality, concentration, or effectiveness to Seachem's flagship product: Prime. Prime is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and saltwater. Prime removes chlorine, chloramine and detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. It is non-acidic and will not impact pH. A further bonus for the reef hobbyist—Prime will not over-activate skimmers.

Prime may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. It contains a binder which renders ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate non-toxic, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water. When transporting or quarantining fish, use Seachem StressGuard. When adding new fish, use Stability. Both are ideal for use with Prime.

Compatibility

Freshwater and marine. Safe in reef tanks, planted tanks and with invertebrates, and it will not over-activate a protein skimmer at the normal dose.

Use half the dose above 30 °C, where oxygen is already short. The faint sulphur smell on opening is normal and is not a sign the bottle has spoiled.

Dosage & Directions

Use 5 mL for every 200 L (50 US gallons) to remove chlorine and chloramine and to detoxify ammonia. In an emergency the dose may be taken up to five times that without harming fish.

Prime detoxifies ammonia rather than removing it, and holds it that way for about 48 hours — long enough for the biofilter to catch up, not a substitute for a water change.

Buy the size you will get through in a reasonable time and keep the bottle closed, cool and out of direct sun. A part-used bottle that has stood open for a year is poorer value than a small fresh one whatever it cost per millilitre.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months' remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
