Triton Magnesium Chloride Hexa Hydrate MgCl2 salt 4 Kg

Highly pure Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate (MgCl2.6H2O) for increasing magnesium. TRITON DIY salts are packed in-house using only the purest ingredients, tested and quality controlled within TRITON Lab.

These products are suitable for 2-Part, 3-Part or other D.I.Y. supplement methods used by reefkeepers and professional aquarists.

Setup & Use

8.4 g of TRITON MgCl2 per 100 litres of aquarium water raises magnesium by approximately 10 mg/L. That is TRITON’s published rate for this salt.

• Dissolve it in RO/DI water first, then add the solution to an area with good flow.
• TRITON’s Balling instructions give stock-solution recipes for the alkalinity and calcium bottles only. Magnesium, potassium, sulphate, strontium and the rest are added individually on the strength of an ICP lab result. Magnesium is not part of the standing Balling rotation.
• Magnesium is the parameter that stops calcium and alkalinity fighting each other, so it is worth correcting before chasing either of the other two.

One thing worth knowing if you also stock TRITON’s Magnesium macro element powder: the two are not interchangeable by weight. TRITON publish 8.4 g per 100 litres for this MgCl2 salt and 10 g per 100 litres for the Magnesium macro element, both for the same 10 mg/L lift. Do not carry a dose across from one to the other.

On natural-seawater magnesium, TRITON print two different figures on two current pages: approximately 1,300 to 1,330 mg/L on their Core Elements page and approximately 1,320 to 1,370 mg/L on their supplements page. Both are TRITON’s. Where they agree (roughly 1,320 to 1,330 mg/L) is the range to aim at, and your ICP result is what you should actually be dosing against.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Filter media and substrates carry no manufacturing or expiry date. Their working life begins on first contact with water, not on the shelf.

Backorder & Dispatch Timeline

This item is stocked to order. Back-orders are consolidated and placed with our overseas suppliers once a month, on the last day of the month, and all such orders are shipped before the 15th of the following month.

Back-orders cannot be cancelled once they have been placed with the supplier. If you cancel before that, payment-gateway charges of 2% plus GST are deducted and the balance refunded. In the rare case a supplier cannot fulfil the item, we will offer you an alternative first, and refund in full with no deduction if you would rather not take it.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 48 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
