Pack Size & Dosage

1000 g of dry powder, not a litre of liquid. TRITON now supply the Magnesium macro element as a powder in a 1 kg pack. Earlier stock was a one-litre bottle, which is what this listing used to say; the powder is the current format and it is what we ship. The price on this page has not been changed to reflect the new format. Ask us if you want it confirmed before ordering.

TRITON’s published rate: about 10 g per 100 litres raises magnesium by roughly 10 mg/l. Magnesium is one of only three elements in the TRITON range with a published numeric rate.

You need an ICP-OES analysis before you dose this. TRITON publish no general dosing schedule for single elements. The dose comes from the DOSE tab of your own ICP analysis, and targeted single-element correction is the entire method the range is built around. Dosing a macro element blind is how a reef tank acquires an imbalance harder to fix than the one it started with.

Dissolve it before it goes in (our advice, not TRITON’s). A dry concentrate belongs in a measured volume of RO/DI water first, then into a high-flow part of the sump. Never tip powder straight onto the sand bed or over corals.

Compatibility

Magnesium is one of the big three reef parameters and the one that keeps the other two stable: without enough of it, calcium and alkalinity will not both hold at the same time.

• Marine reef aquariums only. This is a seawater supplement and has no application in a freshwater tank.
• Runs alongside whatever supplies your calcium and alkalinity: Core7 Flex, TRITON Balling salts, a calcium reactor, two-part or kalkwasser. It corrects one element and contributes no calcium, alkalinity or magnesium of its own.
• TRITON place it at Basic skill level in their own classification of the range.
• A dry powder, not a liquid. Dissolve it in a measured volume of RO/DI water before it goes into a high-flow part of the sump.
• TRITON’s published rate for this powder is approximately 10 g per 100 litres for a 10 mg/L lift. Their separate MgCl2 hexahydrate DIY salt is published at 8.4 g per 100 litres for the same lift. The two are different products and the doses do not carry across.
• Provides a bioavailable magnesium source supporting SPS and LPS skeletal development.

On natural-seawater magnesium TRITON print two figures on two current pages: approximately 1,300 to 1,330 mg/L on their Core Elements page and approximately 1,320 to 1,370 mg/L on their supplements page. Both are theirs; where they overlap, roughly 1,320 to 1,330 mg/L, is the safest thing to aim at.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Backorder & Dispatch Timeline

This item is stocked to order. Back-orders are consolidated and placed with our overseas suppliers once a month, on the last day of the month, and all such orders are shipped before the 15th of the following month.

Back-orders cannot be cancelled once they have been placed with the supplier. If you cancel before that, payment-gateway charges of 2% plus GST are deducted and the balance refunded. In the rare case a supplier cannot fulfil the item, we will offer you an alternative first, and refund in full with no deduction if you would rather not take it.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 48 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
