This TRITON Nickel trace element supplement benefits SPS/LPS coral color and health.
Nickel trace element seawater supplement. Beneficial for SPS/LPS coral colour and health. Caution: to be used by advanced aquarists only.
When used in conjunction with TRITON Lab ICP testing aquarists are now able to make targeted single element adjustments. Only TRITON delivers advanced aquarium husbandry with ease-of-use. For dosage information please check the DOSE tab of your ICP analysis.
The TRITON macro and trace element supplements range is supported by over a decade of scientific research into the chemistry of natural and closed system seawater.
Nickel is one of the three elements TRITON reserve for advanced users. It supports colour across SPS, LPS and soft corals, and TRITON note it helps maximise tissue expansion in softies.
TRITON classify nickel as extremely dangerous if dosed incorrectly, for advanced users only, requiring regular ICP-OES monitoring.
This is not a supplement you dose on a schedule. TRITON publish no general dosing rate for it. The amount comes from the DOSE tab of your own ICP-OES analysis, which measures 45 parameters at parts-per-billion precision. Targeted single-element correction against a measured result is the whole method this range is built around.
Read this before the number. TRITON class nickel as an advanced-user element and describe it as extremely dangerous if dosed incorrectly. It requires regular ICP-OES monitoring, and their standing instruction is to stop dosing immediately if nickel exceeds the set point on your analysis. Nothing below replaces a measured result.
The published rate. TRITON’s advanced-element section gives 1 ml per 500 to 1,000 litres across the three advanced elements (nickel, chromium and cobalt). That is the only rate TRITON print that covers nickel; the nickel entry itself carries the stop condition and no figure of its own. Start at the weaker end of that range, 1 ml per 1,000 litres, and move up only if a later ICP-OES result still shows the element short.
How to dose it. Measure with a syringe, not a bottle cap. Add it to an area of strong flow, away from the intake of any reactor or chemical media that could strip it before it disperses. Dose one element at a time, and leave enough days between changes that the next analysis can tell you which change did what.
When not to dose at all. An elevated nickel reading often means compromised magnet seals somewhere in the system rather than over-dosing, so check the hardware before adding anything. And if you have no ICP-OES result for this tank, you have no reason to dose nickel. This is not a supplement to run on a schedule.
The 1 ml per 500 to 1,000 litre rate, the stop condition and the advanced-user classification are TRITON’s own. The advice to start at the weaker end of the range is ours.
A 100 ml bottle. TRITON’s current product page does not print a pack format for nickel; 100 ml is what we stock and what we ship.
Measure it with a syringe rather than a bottle cap (our advice, not TRITON’s). The doses in this range are millilitres against hundreds of litres of water, and a cap is not an instrument.
Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.
