Specifications

Type: clumping plant-based cat litter, made from recycled pea husks. Lavender-scented.

What is in it: pea husk fibre, plus raw food-grade starch, corn powder and guar gum, which are the natural clumping agents. The lavender variety's purple colour comes from a food-grade pigment.

Pellet size: 1.5 mm diameter (0.06 in). Catit make the point that this is about half the thickness of most other pea husk litters, and that the fine pellet is what drives the absorbency figure.

Absorbency: up to 300% — about three times its own weight in cat waste.

Dust: 99.9% dust-free. Catit note the finest particles sink to the bottom of the box as the cat digs, rather than becoming airborne.

Density: one litre weighs about 400 g.

Disposal: biodegradable, and flushable in small quantities where local rules allow it.

Also available scented with vanilla (natural off-white colour) rather than lavender. The litter itself is identical.

Why the scent is there. Catit are straightforward about it: both varieties are subtly scented to neutralise the naturally sour smell of the raw ingredients. If your cat is one of the ones that rejects perfumed litter, that is worth knowing before you buy a 17.5 litre pack.

Setup & Use

How long a pack lasts. Catit rate a standard 14 litre box at about 60 days for a single-cat household, which puts this 17.5 litre bonus pack at about 75 days. Their own caveat: it depends on the size of your litter box, how many cats use it and how big they are, and how much they drink.

Scooping: once a day, which is Catit's recommendation for best results. The clumps form gradually and firmly and are formulated not to stick to the box, and the smooth pellets pass through a scoop rather than jamming in it — the point of a clumping litter is that you remove the waste and top up, instead of changing the whole box.

Disposal. Small quantities can be flushed, with enough water for your plumbing, if your local rules permit it — Catit are careful to add that condition and so are we. Otherwise it goes in the bin, and it is biodegradable.

Switching your cat over to it. Cats will refuse an unfamiliar litter, and pea husk feels very different underfoot from clay or silica. Mix a little of the new litter into the old, increase the proportion over a week or two, and let the cat make the change gradually rather than finding a completely different substrate one morning.

If it is eaten. The ingredients are food-grade and non-toxic, but Catit are clear that the litter is not meant to be eaten, and they recommend calling your vet if your cat does eat any. Kittens are the ones to watch.

For allergy households: the very low dust reduces airborne allergens substantially, for people and for cats. Catit still recommend talking to your vet if your cat has a diagnosed condition.

What's in the Box

17.5 litres of litter — a bonus pack. Catit's standard retail box is 14 litres (5.6 kg, supplied as two vacuum-sealed 2.8 kg bags). This one carries 3.5 litres more, which is where the ‘75 days’ on the pack comes from: Catit rate a standard box at 60 days for one cat, and this is 25% more litter.

At Catit's published density of 400 g per litre, 17.5 litres works out at roughly 7 kg.

The litter is vacuum-sealed. Catit vac-pack it, which takes about 30% of the volume out for shipping — so the carton that arrives will look small for the quantity. It expands once opened, and it is worth having the litter box ready before you cut the bag.

No scoop is included.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
