Description

HEXA X™ is a treatment for ornamental fish in case of protozoal and flagellate infection. ex: Hexamita. It can be used either in water or feed. The treatment is also effective against external protozoan parasites. However, to treat external infections BACTOCIDE 1™ or PROTECT X ™ are recommended.

Indication of use fish stop eating, White stringy feces, hole in the head and lateral line erosion aka HITH, Lethargy, dark or dull body color, Hexamita and protozoal infection like Ichthyophthirius multifiliis aka Ich, Cryptocaryon irritans, Tetrahymena pyriformis, Trichodina, Trichodinella, Tripartiella, Costia, Chilodonella… etc.
Before use
• Read the full user guide carefully and apply all the recommended instructions.
• A recommended hospital tank will only contain an air stone for aeration and a heater if needed.
• Daily water change should be adopted as means of controlling water quality during treatment. Adding water conditioner that binds and neutralize chlorine AND ammonia is highly recommended.
• It is recommended to stop feeding, during the treatment if you still want to feed or must feed, do it lightly and keep more attention to siphoning away any food or fish waste daily, also in this case you MUST be using water conditioner that binds and neutralize chlorine AND ammonia.
• Always start by cleaning the aquarium, whipping the glass and having clean treated water at the correct conditions for the fish.
• In case you still treat in a display tank follow these steps to increase the success rate and reduce risk. Wipe the glass surface, siphon the substrate, and any waste accumulated under or around décor, filter media…etc.
• Take care when cleaning the filter media not to do it with chlorinated water or any cleaning agent, or over cleaning it in a way that will remove most or all the beneficial bacteria(biofilm). Some products will directly kill the filter bacteria, such products will have a warning on the back of the package.
Method of use
Use one level measure of the included spoon (1 gram) for every 20 gallon (80 liters) of aquarium water. After 24 hours make 70-100% water change and add the full dose (for the total water volume not only new water). It is preferable to mix the powder well with some aquarium water in an external container then distribute it evenly over the water or pour it in a high flow area (ex: pump return). Food treatment add 2 level of included spoon (1 g) to every 100 gram of prepared gel food and mix it thoroughly. Feed the fish twice a day from this food for 6 days.

Recommendation: add 1-2g/L salt along with HexaX. Repeat this daily for 6-10 days. Do not stop the treatment on the first signs of recovery to avoid re-infection, you MUST treat for at least 6 days.

Precaution and storage information

Store in a cool (room temperature) dry place, don’t place in a fridge to avoid water condensation on and inside the package in humid environments.

Compatibility

What it treats: internal protozoa and flagellates. Hexamita above all, and DiscusX also name Ichthyophthirius multifiliis (ich), Cryptocaryon irritans, Tetrahymena pyriformis, Trichodina, Trichodinella, Tripartiella, Costia and Chilodonella. The signs they list are a fish that stops eating, white stringy faeces, hole-in-the-head and lateral line erosion, lethargy, and dark or dull colour.

For external infections, DiscusX point elsewhere. Their own recommendation is Bactocide 1 or Protect X for external disease. Hexa X is effective against external protozoan parasites too, but it is not the first choice for them.

Two routes into the fish: bath or food. That is what makes this product different from the rest of the range. A bath treats the whole tank; medicated food gets the drug into a fish whose gut is the problem. DiscusX's food method is 1 g of powder per 100 g of prepared gel food, fed twice a day for six days — which makes it a natural pairing with a DIY gel or beefheart mix.

Hospital tank or display tank. DiscusX prefer a hospital tank for bath treatments but state that it can also be done in a display tank with the filtration left running.

Do not stop early. DiscusX are firm about this: treat for at least six days, and do not stop at the first sign of recovery, or the infection returns.

Sequence with the rest of the range. Hexa X is the internal protozoal treatment. Flatworms need Fluke X, roundworms need Wormer X, and bacterial or fungal external disease needs Bactocide 1. A fish that is not eating with white stringy faeces can be any of several things — DiscusX list that same symptom under both Hexa X and Bactocide 1 — so it is worth being sure before you dose.

Invertebrates. DiscusX publish nothing about shrimp, snails or other invertebrates for any of their treatments. If you keep them, treat the fish in a separate hospital tank rather than dosing the display — that is the only answer we can give you honestly, and it is also the answer that does not cost you a shrimp colony.

Alongside the treatment. DiscusX recommend adding salt at 1–2 g per litre during the course. They also ask that you run a water conditioner that binds and neutralises both chlorine and ammonia — not just a dechlorinator — because you will be changing large volumes of water daily and, in some cases, working without a mature filter.

Ornamental fish only. Not for human consumption, and not for fish or animals intended for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Storage: cool room temperature, dry. DiscusX specifically say not in the fridge — in a humid climate that causes condensation on and inside the package, and this is a powder.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number — or email us, if you would rather — and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
