Setup & Use

Fit the lamp before anything else. The UV-C lamp is supplied separately from the housing. Unscrew the lamp holder — press the unlocking button, turn it anti-clockwise and lift it out — seat the lamp in its socket, then reassemble, making sure the sealing ring on the glass bulb is pushed down into the gap between bulb and holder and the blocker ring engages the holder’s lug. Turn the clamping screw to the stop, secure it with the locking screw, and turn the holder clockwise until it locks. Handle the glass with a cloth, never bare fingers — the tube contains mercury.

Mount it, or stand it firmly. EHEIM’s preference is to bolt the clarifier to a solid base — a wooden or metal plate — through the fixing holes. If you are not doing that, make sure it is genuinely stable on its mounting feet. A 36 W clarifier with two hoses on it has enough leverage to fall over.

Site it at least 2 m back from the water. That is the safety distance EHEIM specify to VDE. It is not about the unit; it is about the person standing beside it.

Hoses. The unit takes three sizes — ø25 mm (1 inch), ø32 mm (1 ¼ inch) and ø40 mm (1 ½ inch). Saw the stepped connector off at the step matching your hose, put the sealing washer between the housing’s screw connection and the connector, screw the connector on with the union nut and push the hose home. EHEIM recommend a hose clamp on each. Cut at the wrong step and there is no going back, so measure first.

One outlet or two. The clarifier can run with one outlet hose or two; if you are only using one, close the other with the blind plug supplied. Running it with an open second outlet is how a pond ends up on the lawn.

Switching on. There is no switch — it starts the moment it is plugged in, and takes three to four seconds to strike. The transparent screw connections glow when the lamp is working properly, which is your only external confirmation.

Never run it without flow. The water passing through is what cools the lamp.

Cleaning the glass bulb. Unplug, release the lamp holder, clean the quartz sleeve with an ordinary glass cleaner, reassemble. Do this every time you service the pond filter — the film builds up faster in pond water than anyone expects, and it costs you UV output invisibly.

Replace the lamp at about 8,000 hours — roughly a year of continuous running. EHEIM are explicit that the UV-C output falls away sharply past that point, and it does so long before the lamp stops lighting up. A lamp that still glows is not evidence that it is still sterilising. Clean the quartz sleeve at the same time; a mineral film on the glass costs you output just as effectively as an old tube does.

If the water is not clearing: EHEIM’s fault table gives three causes — a dirty quartz sleeve, a lamp past its life, or a failed lamp. In that order of likelihood.

Keep it out of direct sunlight, and between +4 and +35 °C. Clean it and store it frost-free over winter.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Filter media and substrates carry no manufacturing or expiry date — their working life begins on first contact with water, not on the shelf.

Warranty & Support

This product carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty from the date of purchase, covering material and manufacturing defects. EHEIM excludes wear parts — impeller, sealing rings, hoses and filter media — along with glass damage, units that have been opened, and any unit fitted with non-EHEIM parts.

Warranty support is handled by us directly. Message our WhatsApp support with your order number and we will diagnose the fault first. Most cases are solved by replacing a single part, so you rarely need to send the whole unit. If the item does need to come back, it ships to our Delhi or Pune warehouse, whichever one served your order, and courier cost in both directions is borne by the customer. Your GST invoice is valid proof of purchase for the claim.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
