The Seachem Algae Pads are non-scratch algae pads for glass & acrylic. The melamine foam uses micro abrasive technology to easily remove algae from the sides of your aquarium. They are particularly effective at removing algae from scratches. They are chemically inert and do not use soaps or detergents. Their white color contrasts against dark algae making it easier to see when areas are fully clean.

Melamine foam is incredibly effective abrasive cleaner. It has a microstructure as hard as glass, but because of its open-cell structure it remains flexible. It performs on stains a lot like extremely fine sandpaper. In the aquarium, it easily removes algae by scraping with its extremely hard microscopic filaments.

Melamine has a microstructure about as hard as glass but an open-cell structure that keeps it flexible, so it is safe on both glass and acrylic. The pads are white, so the algae you have removed shows on them and you can see when a section is done.

Setup & Use

Wet the pad and wipe. No soap and no detergent — melamine works by micro-abrasion alone, and anything you add to it ends up in the tank.

It is particularly good at lifting algae out of existing scratches in the glass, which a blade rides straight over. On rough surfaces such as rock and driftwood melamine wears away quickly; the DuoPad is the tool for those.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Filter media and substrates carry no manufacturing or expiry date — their working life begins on first contact with water, not on the shelf.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment. If tracking shows delivered but nothing reached you, tell us within 72 hours, which is the reporting window Indian couriers allow. Damage caused during installation or use is not covered; replacement spares for such cases are chargeable.
