Seachem Safe is a super-concentrated dry conditioner that removes chlorine, chloramine, and ammonia while detoxifying nitrite and nitrate.

Description

  • Removes chlorine, chloramine, and ammonia.
  • Detoxifies nitrite and nitrate.
  • Highly concentrated.
  • Marine and freshwater.

Seachem Safe is the complete and super-concentrated dry conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Safe removes chlorine, chloramine and detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. It is non-acidic and will not impact pH. A further bonus for the reef hobbyist: Safe will not over-activate skimmers.

Safe may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. It contains a binder which renders ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate non-toxic, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water. When transporting or quarantining fish, use Seachem StressGuard. When adding new fish, use Stability. Both are ideal for use with Safe.

Compatibility

What it is. Seachem’s own description: a dry, concentrated water conditioner for freshwater and saltwater aquariums that removes chlorine and chloramine and detoxifies ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

Where this sits in the Seachem range. Safe is the dry, concentrated counterpart to Prime, built on the same conditioning chemistry in powder form: useful for anyone dosing large volumes regularly, since a little goes a long way.

Why it drops into any system. Non-acidic and pH-neutral, and Seachem states it does not over-activate protein skimmers in reef setups. Particularly useful during tank cycling.

Dosage & Directions

Seachem’s own dose (250 g / 1 kg / 4 kg sizes, including this 1 kg). Use 1.25 g (1/4 tsp) per 1,250 L (300 US gallons) for chlorine/chloramine removal, or 1.25 g per 300 L (75 US gallons) for ammonia detoxification.

Special situations. A double dose is safe against high chloramine; up to 4x the normal dose is acceptable in an emergency for nitrite/nitrate detoxification; and above 30°C (86°F) with low chlorine or ammonia, use a half dose.

Specifications

Pack sizes Seachem offers. 50 g, 250 g, 1 kg, 4 kg and 20 kg: this listing is the 1 kg size. Note the 50 g size uses a different, smaller included scoop and dose (200 mg per 200 L for chlorine/chloramine, 200 mg per 50 L for ammonia) than the 250 g/1 kg/4 kg sizes above.

Freshness & Storage

Every batch we dispatch carries a minimum of 6 months’ remaining shelf life. Store this product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap or inner foil closed tightly after each use.

Filter media and substrates carry no manufacturing or expiry date: their working life begins on first contact with water, not on the shelf.

Returns & Replacement

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Manufacturer-sealed items cannot be returned once the seal is broken, and sale-priced items are not refundable.

If your item arrives defective or damaged, message us on WhatsApp with your order number, or email us if you would rather, and we will replace it. Approved replacements are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Transit damage is covered by insurance on every shipment.
