Planted Substrate
Fluval Bio Stratum Plant Soil is available in 2kg, 4kg, and 8kg sizes, giving you enough range to size a substrate layer for anything from a nano planted tank to a large aquascape without over- or under-buying. As a nutrient-rich substrate rather than an inert gravel, it’s a one-time decision most aquascapers make at tank setup rather than something replaced regularly.
FX Canister Filter Service Parts
If you’re already running a Fluval FX2, FX4, or FX6, keeping spare service parts on hand avoids a maintenance day turning into a multi-day wait for a single gasket. The Fluval FX2 Service Kit, FX4 Service Kit, and FX6 Service Kit each bundle the seals and wear parts specific to that model. Beyond the kits, the Fluval FX2/4/6 Aquastop Valve lets you shut off flow at the canister without disconnecting hoses for routine cleaning, and the FX5/FX6 Motor Seal Ring is worth replacing proactively if you notice reduced flow or any moisture around the motor head, since a worn seal is one of the more common causes of both.

306/406 and 106/206/107/207 Series Parts
Fluval’s smaller canister lines have their own dedicated spares. Motor head gaskets are available for both the 307/407 and 106/206/107/207 series, and magnetic impellers, the part most likely to wear from constant rotation, are stocked for the 306, 406, 106/206, and 107/207 with ceramic shaft models. Matching ribbed hosing is available for the FX series, 306/406, and 106/206 lines, so a cracked or hardened hose doesn’t force a search for a generic replacement that may not seal properly.
Filter Media
The Media Value Pack for 306/406, 307/407 bundles mechanical, biological, and chemical media sized for those specific canister models, and Fluval Zeo-Carb (450g, in three 150g bags) combines zeolite ammonia removal with activated carbon for tanks that need both chemical filtration functions at once, particularly useful after a medication treatment when you want ammonia and residual medication cleared quickly.
UV Clarification and Surface Skimming
The Fluval FX UVC In-Line Clarifier (6 watt) plumbs directly into an FX canister’s line to clear free-floating algae and pathogens without a separate standalone UV unit. For surface film, the Fluval Auto Surface Skimmer SK400 removes the oily film that blocks gas exchange and dulls surface reflections, working independently of whichever canister or power filter is already running.
Heaters
Fluval’s heater range splits into two families. The Fluval E Heater (100 watt, also 200 watt) is the digital, higher-precision line with an external temperature readout. The Fluval M Heater (100 watt, also 300 watt) is a simpler mechanical-dial design at a more accessible price point, and the standalone Fluval M 50 Watt Heater covers small tanks and nano setups where a 100W unit would be oversized.
